Dlask 8" barrel build help

Thanks yeah it just balances so much nicer now, without the flash hider and fully retracted with the CAA butt stock it was about 25.5 inches, with the sling collar pinned and expoxied to the buffer tube it is 660-670mm 26 to 26.4 inches (can't remember) without using a hammer the stock cannot go any shorter now.

OVERALL LENGTH LESS THAN 26"/660mm RULES:

CURRENT LAW CC s. 84(1) "prohibited weapon" (d):
If the firearm ARRIVES at the "less than 26"/660mm in overall length" condition by "sawing, cutting" etc., then it is forced into the "prohibited weapon" class. If it left the factory at that too-short length, or arrived at that too-short length by the addition or substitution of factory-made or custom-made parts that are NOT SHORTENED FACTORY-MADE PARTS, the limit does NOT apply. It is unrestricted, UNLESS it is semi-automatic AND centrefire.

...... so 8.5" grizzly with factory made pistol grip.... NR?

No it still needs a total OA length of 660mm or you are in big trouble. Put a pistol grip on the Grizzly and you can be charged.

I added a bit more to be safe.

NO! See post number 19. A Mare's Leg is non-restricted and it is under 660mm. The reason that an 8" shotgun with a pistol grip is restricted is because the RCMP reclassified it as a handgun, not because it is less than 660mm. They were originally non-restricted until the RCMP came up with this ploy.

Well well well. That is interesting. So, if I read that right, a SR-22 with a 6" factory barrel with the buttstock & buffer tube removed, would be unrestricted? It goes against everything I've heard about the 26" OAL, but this is the first time I've seen the CC quoted.

I think if you remove the buttstock completely you have turned it into a handgun (restricted). But a short stock and short barrel that add up to less than 660mm would be NR.

Just a question, have you short a 22 short barrel gun? I had the dlask 8" and it was crazy loud
So loud that I needed ear protection. Im thinking my 5.56 was less loud. I think a 6" would be too loud without protection but its your ears.
My guess is the 6" barrel makes the gun restricted or even prohibited. I had a 8" barrel with an axiom stock which made it less than 26" From what I was told. Unless I pinned the stock, the gun was prohibited and not restricted. I would call CFO and ask. However the laws Ive found are not really understood by those who inforce them. So it could be a gamble and you could run into a LE officer who thinks he knows the laws but could be wrong himself.
Im sure some of you have stories about that!

I have an 8" barrel on my SR-22 and it is louder than the stock length barrel, but I also shoot a .22 pistol with a 5" barrel, so it does not bother me. I must admit that I do always wear ear protection when shooting them. I have a 10.5" 5.56 AR-15, now that is LOUD

As far as LE officers and NR rifles under 26" - I would carry a copy of the applicable criminal code to help avoid unfortunate misunderstandings. I carry a copy of the RCMP letter regarding magazine capacity in my range bag, because I use 10 round pistol mags in my 5.56 rifle, for the same reason.
