I recently purchased a Dlask DAR-22 with Kidd internals (2 stage trigger, countersunk pins, bolt & charging handle) and 18" Green Mountain bull barrel on the EE. The previous owner claimed that it has only seen 25 rounds, and the condition certainly seems to confirm that. The new rifle is shown at the top of the following photo, above my existing 12.5" Dlask.

I intend to raid the new rifle for parts and sell the rest. The main issue for me to decide is: do I keep the receiver with the 12.5" X-treme barrel or the 18" GM barrel? I intend to do some testing and keep which ever is more accurate and sell the other. The winner will be my Bench Rest rifle and wear the Sightron scope. Anyone want to guess which will win? I am not sure what to expect. If there is no clear winner I intend to keep the 12.5" but I am definitely keeping both stocks. I think the thumbhole stock will work better for correct scope eye relief - I don't like the contour of the top of the cheek rest on the lower stoke in combination with the Sightron scope.

Is the GM barrel steel? If it is that would be one front heavy gun with the Sightron on top. You'd need to get a bigger car to carry that sucker around, lol. I'd have to reinforce the shooting bench also.

Not steel....depleted uranium for extra weight! I really don't care about the weight for a BR gun. Actually more weight lower down would probably make it less top heavy and less prone to falling off the rest :) I am pretty sure I read somewhere that Dlask uses GM barrel blanks, so the only differences in the 2 barrels should be length, crown profile and chamber profile.

Now I see why your budget is used up!I would like too see how they shoot compared to my bolt gun. You'll have to experiment with ammo as well too see what works well, probably mini mags so it cycles.I have 1500 rounds of lapua on the way. R you going to range on the weekend?

This project will not affect my shooting budget - that was blown by 2 shotguns and a milsurp Inglis pistol, and several holsters ! Once I resell any parts I am not keeping I should break even on this rifle (I hope).

I don't know about the new rifle, but the 12.5, after much breaking-in and tweaking, has changed from a very ammo sensitive gun to one that will cycle almost anything including subsonics. I am hoping the new rifle will shoot match ammo without too much drama. The 12.5 seems to like Remington Match Rifle (made by Eley) the best.

I may be taking both rifles to the range this weekend, I will know better tomorrow night if you want to pm me then.
