I picked up 3 different Dlask "Happy Caps" mag caps a few months back.

The fit is tight and the finish matches perfectly.
They are also extremely lightweight in comparison to factory Remington and Norinco mag caps. At least 1/4 the weight.

But they dont seem to line up right on my Grizzly. The images are always sideways or diagonal when fully tightened.
I'm guessing the threading is not the same length as Remingtons?
Anyway to remedy this?

Plumber's teflon tape on the threads? Thread it in until it aligns then leave it.

The mag cap needs to be tight and flush with the barrel ring, so stopping the cap any amount before the ring will cause the whole barrel to move back and forth the same amount.

Duh!, sorry...left my thinking cap in the truck...well at least with the Teflon tape, the water won't run out... ha ha... You have a chat with Joe about this?

Ha ha yeah thanks. No haven't talked to him. I'm thinking since everything they do is 870 based, they can't 100% guarantee cross use compatibility with clones.

Again, the caps function perfectly on the gun.
The only issue is the appearance of the images.

Although I did try it on my 870 Express and the caps threads bottomed out so the barrel was sliding/moving.
But I use an extension on that gun so didn't matter.

The center used to be a seperate piece that could be indexed. But failing that the way to index them is to remove material from the back or use a shim to index it.

Yep, for that version of the cap, you would have to shim it. My opinion? The graphic looks stoopid. I think they would sell more if they were plain and un-engraved.

Well it's just a functional novelty piece. Not much time spent looking at the business end so no big deal. Kind of like an Easter egg for whoever might have a gander at it. These have also been sold out for a long time. So sales aren't an issue with this product.

Badboy was selling wave washers at one point for guns that don't have the detent balls on the lug.
Might shim it out enough and help keep it tight.

Just shoot it gangsta style.

I like the ones that say "Smile, wait for flash"

Lol !

These are the 3 I picked up. Currently only using 2. I like them because they reduce some weight at the muzzle, and I don't have to hear the clanging of an unused sling plate anymore whenever I handle my Grizzlys.

I just realized that in your case it might be easier to adjust it by allowing it to thread in a bit further (1/4 turn)
A bit of file work on the lug of the barrel should do it.

Double check that your cap will thread a bit further(remove the barrel and measure)without bottoming out on the end of the magtube first.

OK thanks ↑↑↑ I'll measure, although I think the cap is rather close to bottoming out as is.

I own 3 different 12.5" DA barrels and have found that when I swap each barrel on the same gun the face on the mag cap changes its position. From nearly being upsidedown, to totally sideways and to just shy of being right side up.
Might be a miniscule variation in barrel specs causing it. Or the caps threading start and finish points vary from cap to cap in regards to the position the symbols are engraved.

For example, here's my other Grizzly:

I you do decide to file the face of the lug, use some marker ink to find where the high spots are and file it flush with the mag cap.
A ball detent and spring would be good as well to keep it from firing loose.
