I picked up a DLASK RE-worked LeVang and took it out to the 25 yard range for testing. Using my 10/22, I fired 90 rounds without the LeVang in nine, ten shot groups and 90 rounds with the Levang in nine, ten shot groups. I cleaned the barrel after firing the control target, and then seasoned the barrel with the Levang installed before firing the next target.

Results (ammo was Fiocchi Performance SV and groups were measured edge to edge):
Control Target Group average: .625:redface:
LeVang Target Group Average: .559:redface:

Impressions:
- Easy to install, especially with the wrench flats. I didn't use a crush washer, I just installed it with a wrench as I don't believe the LeVang needs any special alignment. The wrench flats didn't align with the flutes in the barrel, but I don't really care as long as it works. If looks are important, you can easily align them.

- No felt increase or decrease in recoil, though I did notice an interesting "twang" sound through the folding stock with the LeVang installed.

- Slightly reduced loudness of report for the shooter with the LeVang installed.

- I believe that the LeVang improved accuracy somewhat during this test. Certainly the group averages indicated it, but I think more testing would be required with different ammo to definitively make that conclusion. This looks promising though.

- Easy to clean with a cotton swab.

- Lets not forget the added benefit of forcing propellant gases and lead particulate downrange away from the shooter and those next to him.:)

All things considered I think it's a great addition and is excellent value for all the benefits it provides. It's found a permanent home on my rifle, with much more testing to come.

Anything that aids accuracy is, to me, interesting in-and-of-itself.......though I doubt either of my 10/22's shoot well enough for me to notice an improvement :yingyang: , were I to use this product?....

Note: Mind you, that all said, my 10/22's probably shoot better than I do....:D

Great review Clobb AND it looks good on your rifle too! :D
I hope Dlask does well with these comps.....
A great Canadian company doing so much for Canadian firearms owners!! :canadaFlag:

Thanks for your time in the field, your work, this thread and all the info.

You will need a lot more testing to do.

A lot (if not most) of the muzzle devices change the POI.

If you measure your groups edge to edge .625" an .559", then
center to center will be roughly about .410" and .340".
That is quite outstanding.

If there is any consistent group-shrinking with the comp installed,
then I believe that might be due to the bullet-stabilizing effect of the LeVang.
On different forums, they are still debating that (but for centerfire) since years.

Keep in mind the primary intent of this comp on a 22 rimfire
was to send all the dust and gas forward.
Improved accuracy (if any) is an un-intended bonus.

Hmmm anyway to get a non-functioning one to see if the added weight, or length might be causing the group shrinkage?

It was my pleasure, I didn't consider it work, but perhaps I will once I test a few more brands of ammo. :)

Yes, I missed that in this post, the LeVang changed POI by roughly 1/4 inch left and 1/4 in low.

This is the primary reason why I wanted one. I never really expected to get much of any other changes, but I thought I would test it anyway to really get a sense of any changes with it installed.

Speaking of sending the dust and residue forward, it really does.
The smoke from some dirty burning bulk ammo I was using yesterday was out three feet in front of the barrel, and concentrated forward.
It also makes it sound as though you're standing a few feet behind someone who is shooting.
And it looks mean :D

Dlask's modified levang compensator has my vote for best muzzle accessory !

Damm!
The more and more I see this crazy stuff that Dlask is starting to produce for the 10/22 the more and more I want 1.

I hear what your saying. I bought a YHM Phantom for my SR22, but now that I see this on a Dlask barrel ... I have to have one too. I think it's time to sell a few more items I don't need .. lol

I've got one on order now too. I was weak. :p

I plan on putting together a precision military looking Ruger 10/22. I ordered the 16" fluted bull barrel (fluting mostly for looks) and a Hogue tan overmold stock. The 16" was due to that being the best all around for a .22LR. But.. looks wise I prefer the 18-20" barrels. They look more like a centerfire rifle. So here comes the reworked Levang. It should look good and add the extra 2" of length for the overall look. Plus if it makes the rifle a little quieter at least to the shooter, then that's a plus too.

I was reading this thread and noted that the POI was low and to the left after the comp was added. Strangely enough during my .22LR ammo tests for various rifles I found the ammo that grouped low and to the left was always the most accurate out of that rifle. Not scientific but it did seem to be the case. Lapua super club does this in my stock Ruger 10/22 target. The accuracy was excellent. Any of the ammo that grouped high and to the right was generally crap for that rifle.

I have pretty much the same setup and also did this test. My results were very similar. It does indeed improve accuracy. Think I wrote a thread on it. No crush washer either, doesn't need it. I do put plumbers tape on the thread to keep it tight. If it loosens I believe accuracy will suffer, happened to me and was going nuts wondering why. My opinion anyways.

I'm looking forward to seeing your build. Apparently these barrels were made to shoot better with cheaper ammo. I tried federal champion that I picked up at Canadian tire and found that the groups were not much worse that the Fiocchi target ammo I was using and much cheaper. I need to do more testing with this ammo but I was impressed enough to want to test it some more. Now that I have a chrony I want to test velocities with the LeVang installed and see what happens. I've been so busy testing my rifle at 25 yards I haven't even shot it at any further distance yet. Too may projects and tests and too little time to shoot. I love the testing and projects almost as much as shooting though, maybe I'm weird.
