I am interested in buying the Dlask shorty shortgun to take while I go hiking as bear defense. Are they non-restiricted? I was told that it was legal to carry a non-restircted shotgun while hiking.
Yeah if you have a look there were 2 recent threads on this subject, and there are some wildly varying views out there. I guess in some areas (not just in Ontario) a C.O. will attempt to charge you with poaching for carrying in the bush without a hunting license.
in b.c. i pack a 12gauge as bear defence better safe than sorry.do not leave the house without it.there are some parks that do not allow fire arms so bear spray will have to do in these spots.just about every one i know that hunts or fish pack some sort of 12 gauge.there short compact easy to use and with slugs will stop just about anything but remember avoidance is your best bet!!do not put yourself in a situation to have to use it but if all else fails it is there.
