Dlask Target Upper

I've never run one of his target uppers, but based on seeing a lot of his work on various rifles and pistols, and having met Jo, I'd say that his work tends to put accuracy first. If there's something wrong with a Dlask gun, it'll be because the tolerances are too tight, there is no such thing as a "sloppy" fit from him. Since you're looking for a precision build that's the attitude you want, if I was spending my own money on a target AR (and I may be soon) that's where I'd go.

ETA: and put those nuns down - you don't know where they've been.

I heard some bad talk about Dlask barrels and so forth having bad QC, I guess to each his own.
I was planning to mate it with a ATR upper i'm buying.

If you're dealing with ATR for the rest of it, I'd ask Rick about the whole enchilada, he's way more than capable of putting together an incredible AR.

FYI: my observations....

I've met a lot of "tradesman" over the years as my capacity as a mechanical design engineer designing everything from fuel cell test equipment, toy testing equipment, lithium ion manufacturing equipment, nuclear reactor components, aircraft parts (fixed wing and helicopters), etc....

If there is one thing I've learned is to pay attention when the "old school" European types tell you something. They've have a refreshingly different mindset than North American types. Good enough doesn't appear anywhere in their vocabulary. I've seen parts being machined that were rejected by the machinist because they didn't meet his standard for perfection.

Like others, I had heard good and bad about Joseph. But unlike others, I elect to take the rumours for what they are - rumours - based on personal biases and prejudices just like any other inter personal relationships we have.

In my dealings with Joseph (I have an M4 type rifle being built for my daughter - waiting for barrels to clear customs) he has been nothing but honest with me.

He was pretty easy going and gave his opinion willingly with reasons for taking a particular position. While I might not have all ways agreed with his point of view ( I can also say I don't have a fraction of his gun knowledge) I have to respect someone who is passionate about what he does. He is not afraid to tell you what is wrong - and in the same breath will tell you the different ideas he has to fix the issues.

From the 10-15 different firearms I was allowed to inspect during my visit I found the workmanship to be first rate. Partially machined blocks of aluminium that were on their way to being firearms looked pretty nice. When asked about the QC issues he informed me that moving away from being a gunsmith to small scale manufacturing is a totally different game. One that he and his crew are well positioned to make the transition.
Note - while I was there he fixed several DIY screw ups and then instructed his gunsmiths to pack the firearms up and not charge the customer for the fixes. Nice to know somene still takes customer service seriously.

I look forward to my M4 type rifle and with future dealings with Joe and his crew.

illd say what i know to be true, allmost everything i have seen from him is good but the companys customer service is very bad.
Dlask is very good on custom stuff, but on production items i find the qc very low, but i would have to say its because its price based.
But for a custom gunsmith , he does good work.
