Anyone know who makes the receivers and the barrels Dlask is using in their uppers? Are they proprietary built units or are they assembled from other components (.ie. ER Shaw, Wilson, Walther.....)

I am looking for an 18 or 20 in barrele, flat topped, free floated rifle length upper.

Are there any other suggested manufacturers to consider? I am not looking for railed uppers, just a good free floated tube and a nice, accurate upper and barrel.

Your thoughts are appreciated.

Dlask Upers

Greetings,

I have a Dlask Upper on a Stag lower. I am still kicking myself for not just getting the whole thing from Dlask in the first place. I ended up replacing the Stag 16' upper with a Dlask 14 upper with free floated stainless bull barrel. It is So nice. A little heavy to carry all day but I don't do that. The combo is top quality and works flawlessly. Note: Stag mags don't work in any gun. Avoid them. Give Joe a call. He will answer all your questions. They make receivers in house by CNC but order out barrel blanks and make them to order in house. Once again, don't believe some of the bulls##t about his products. They are top quality. Worth the extra money.

Good luck

Dlask Uppers

Thanks MustangFrank,

I ahve been looking at their barreled uppers and am quite impressed, seems to be very close to what I want. I emailed Joe and he mentioned that they are using their own hammer forged barrels in a heavy contour, or can add a differnet barrel (i.e. ER Shaw) if requested.

I do love the idea of a locally made unit.....

Regards

Dlask had a big row of LMT uppers when I was in the shop last weekend ... all sold??

Yes they were. Took a poll and the AR-15 won out over the G36.
When I phoned it in he said it would take a couple of weeks to complete my build as the row of uppers seen in his shop were all ready committed to other clients.

They have their own hammer forge?

I seriously doubt that. Perhaps they're using Heym blanks?

Umm. I bought a 11-5" barrel from Dlask and the front sight housing was off center. It was not a big deal for me because I replaced it with a low profile gas block. That was last year so I hope their QC has improved.

That's pretty harsh, in incorrect on top of it.

Well, I don't think it is either harsh or incorrect. I call it as I see it. However, I must step back a bit and use some objectivity here. The CP mags are made in New Britton CT which is where Stag is manufactured. Maybe there is no connection. It dosn't really matter. My initial question was how do I make them work. I sent e-mails to Stag and A-East 6 months to a year ago, so I don't think the gun show caused them to be too busy to answer. But again, I understand that things slip through the cracks. Also, Dlask makes several versions of receivers. The one I have is the plain generic version that is identical to all the other dull finnised ones. You can't tell the difference. I can only relay the personal experiences I have had and appreciate others' ideas and experiences. I had bad luck with the mags and the distributors. I have had good success and experiences with Dlask. Take it for what it is worth. I also hate Chevy trucks if anyone cares.

Your original statement was "Stag mags don't work in any gun" - which is not what you said just now. Pick one. If the former, then you're wrong as I've already stated. If the latter, then best to acknowledge that the mags work fine in most guns for most people.

Wow. I guess you told me. I originally asked for some help or advice with my problem. I received some very good feedback in PM's from people with similar problems and how they suggested I find a solution. I can see why they chose to send a private message. Sheesh.
