Dlask vs. Kidd (Receiver)

Building a new 10/22 and have a nice KIDD bolt to start with. Torn between a KIDD receiver (if I can even manage to get one up here) and the DAR 22. Has anyone had the opportunity to compare the two? Workmanship? Functionality? Weight?

Would appreciate any opinions - thanks in advance.
 
I have no experience with Kidd products, but I have a DAR 22 receiver which houses a Volquartsen bolt, barrel and trigger assembly. The quality is excellent with the DAR 22. No worries there, however the Volquartsen bolt is a bit tight in there and it took about 150 rnds to work it's self in and now runs smoothly. Perhaps the machining tolerances within the receiver are more precise and thats something to consider when trying to match different components.

Just call Joe Brooks for Kidd parts... He has everything in stock ( Almost )

And yes my Kidd bolt is super tight in my dlask receiver.... If I had to do it again I would use the Kidd Receiver....
 
Thanks for the replies - was worried the fit might not be perfect. Got the bolt from Joe Brooks but they don't have receivers, hopefully they will get some in soon.
 
Ive been researching these for a while. I'd get the kidd supergrade reciever with kidd threaded barrel. I like kidd's rear tang option.
Dlask is also coming out with a threaded receiver using a jam nut.

I am curious how you line up the extractor with extractor slot on kids threaded barrel/receiver. I'm gonna send them an email

Fabsports also brings in Kidd parts, if its not in stock they will bring it in for you. I have a Kidd Supergrade and another that has the DAR receiver but the rest is Kidd, I do prefer the Kidd but the Dlask is well built. I do find the Dlask to be a little too thick on top and don't care for the looks.

Thanks, appreciate the feedback. Good to hear from someone who has both. Called Fabsports but they don't sell receivers apparently. Will keep fingers crossed that Travis can bring one in at Joe Brooks.
 
I have had a number of KIDD guns/receivers... and a number of Dlask DAR22's... with the difficulty of getting KIDD receivers in Canada and KIDDs reputation... all of my KIDD guns have been sold at the range (for a stupid amount of money)... so here's the "skinny"... KIDD makes an excellent product, very precise and with an excellent finish... their bolts are made larger than many, and that is so that there is less slop (think precision) inside their receiver... you would not be unhappy with a KIDD receiver and/or complete gun... BUT, Dlask also makes a great product... Dlask DAR22 receiver's are VERY nice and the tolerances are just as tight as KIDD's... I have tried KIDD, VQ and RT bolts (KIDD and VQ are engineered, RT is a reworked OEM) in both KIDD and Dlask receivers, side-by-side, and the fit is identical... so a tight bolt in a Dlask, is a tight bolt in a KIDD (ALIME)... Dlask is building threaded barrels and is also working on the second hold down... but as far as the second hold down goes, this can be done to any 10/22 and/or clone, by pinning the receiver through the rear action bolt hole... I also believe that you will be entirely happy with the DAR22 receiver and/or complete Dlask build... A very nice combo is the VQ bolt and TG2000 in a Dlask DAR22 receiver with Dlask barrel and the stock of your choice. OR a KIDD bolt and KIDD single stage trigger group in the DAR22 receiver. As far as barrels go... KIDD makes a very nice barrel, but truthfully, I have achieved accuracy equal to any KIDD I have owned from GM, ERS, VQ and Dlask, so I would not hesitate in recommending Dlask barrels for your build... just remember if you go with the Xtreme chamber you will be limiting the ammo you can use and dealing with more functionality issues, but will potentially achieve higher accuracy... the sporter chamber will eat pretty much anything although I believe Dlask recommends people avoid "Hyper" stuff (Velocitor, Stinger etc...). People often gripe about functionality in match dimensioned chambers but at the same time demand tighter tolerances and better accuracy... I'm here to tell you that until you find the chamber/ammo combo that you can tune for best accuracy AND functionality... there is ALWAYS a process to get any match chamber functioning at peak performance, and whether it is a Dlask, KIDD or VQ makes no difference... accurate chambers are tight chambers, and tight chambers are finicky, require more cleaning and function with fewer ammo options, period. We tend to go the other way... with "tightish" sporter chambers that we then test dozens of loads with until we hit the one that functions best, with excellent accuracy... this has worked for every build we have done... the truth is that when I am shooting for little "itty-bity groups I am using a bolt action or single, not a semi-auto.

Fabsport also take there sweet a$$ time... Phucked me over on 2 different occasions over 3 month time period ( Ordered stuff then was told I had to wait because of B.o)... Funny a call to Joe Brooks and I had my bolt within a week...
