Dlask ??

I was not satisfied with the attention to detail on the M4 style carbine I purchased from them. The lower was fine, but the upper came with a different front site than was advertised, and said front site and the quad rail handguard were badly misaligned. When I sent it back to have those problems corrected, they damaged the handguard in the process, then blamed me for it. My customer service experience with them went downhill from there.

I believe the employee I dealt with at the time no longer works there, but I would still be extremely hesitant to buy anything from them again ... which is a little disappointing, because they sell some cool, unique products I would like to own, and I appreciate the fact that they are a Canadian company making black guns. That doesn't mean I'm going to put up with a whole bunch of crap and still deal with them, though.

I read a number of negative comments about their work and customer service before I made my purchase, and afterwards I wished I had paid more attention to them.
 
While I can't discount what others experiences have been, mine have been excellent. I've never bought a whole firearm from Dlask though.

I have a few of his small bits (Rem +1 extension and Vortex style flash hider, etc.) The quality on them is all good. The Rem extension is an example of how the factory should have done it yet is less money. The Vortex is also nice and quite reasonable compared to the Smith original.

Joe is a nice guy and great to deal with IMHO. I like the fact he is Canadian so no hassles with CBSA. As long as I continue to see good QC I will continue to deal with him.
 
The mag well internal profile on the DLASK CGN lowers that were made up a few years back was incorrect. The angle at the bottom was too steep, and prevented some of the magazines I have (Thermold, Orlite) from locking up properly.

Works fine with metal magazines with no mag well bump on the body.

Very tight assembly on some parts, I have a feeling that the powder coating they do is somewhat thicker than the anodization that's usually done.

That said, all the different ABCD trigger and buttstock parts that I've tested with it seem to fit just fine, so no real issues with that, and the CGN Logo that was engraved on it looks quite sharp.

Supporting a Canadian business was a good idea at the time.

I have no other experience with DLASK, so I'd have to leave my comments at that, and suggest you do a search around here for other people's concerns.

Wait a second, they don't anodize their lowers? I realize that powder coating is pretty durable stuff but it wouldn't harden the actual aluminum the way anodizing does. I wonder how the holes for trigger pins etc.. would hold up after a high round count in the untreated aluminum.?

bunch of surrender monkeys if you ask me.... after that incident I will never shop at a store with such poor customer service. They should have at least phoned the customers and informed them of a problem with the import and then given them the number of the officer involved.

PLEASE do not spread rumours!!!!!

I have talked to Joe personally about this issue and he states he had all the required paperwork inorder and was good to go.From what I was told it was the Goverment who "changed things after the permits were issued.

Dlask is currently fighting the Goverment over this issue.

If you don't know the story behind this fiasco, please keep the pie holes shut.;)

What we don't need right now is rampant speculation on what happened.

Exactly, well said Skullboy, I got nothing but excellent service from Joe and Dean. They installed a Lilja barrel on my AR, and did a awesome trigger job on my Gold Cup. I have one of Joe's earlier race guns, trigger second to none and it will shoot an a**hole out of a nat at 50 paces. By the way, the more we support our Canadain friends, the more they can support us, BTW, he said to be working on an affordable single shot 50 bmg, Joe if you're listening, :D whats the status?

I have read a LOT of post bashing Joe before I got my AR-15 from him.

I went to talk to him to see if he is really as slimy and as bad as some fellow gunnutz said he was.

I talked to him and asked him point blank about some of the things I have read and about a very specific incident with one of the complainers (not a gunnutz but very vocal about being sc***ed by Joe) . Joe gave me his side of the story and I found him to be open and candid. I formed a good impression after talking to him.

I had him assemble an AR-15 specifically for competition. I wanted a target barrel, free floated, with rails. He built/assembled a Dlask lower (dont' think he makes uppers), RRA 2 stage trigger (one of the sweetest triggers I've handled) and took him more than the month that he promised. The reason was the barrel was still being imported (that was why he gave me a month's timetable). I got a bit impatient (after a month) and asked him to just get me a 'stock' barrel so I can have my rifle. He advised me to wait as I will be using it for competition and the wait will be worth it. He even assured me that I wont regret it.

I didn't, it shoots very very well.

I've used it in Tactical Rifle at TMSA and during the 100 yards (meters) stage, all 15 shots landed on the IPSC target. Close up, till about 25 meters, the shots WILL land on the A Zone while running thru the stages.

The rifle is a keeper and I will get another one from him for sure.

Giving business to a Canadian company is a plus too !
 
I've owned a couple of Dlask ARs, a Mini Moose and my current CQB. The Dlask lowers ARE tight with some mags. Grey genuine COLT/Armalite work perfectly. Some other high quality mags are tight. Dlask lowers do NOT have the back of the mag well beveled, which means you can't use plastic mags without a few minutes of customisation. I spent about 3 minutes with a file on the back of my plastic mags to get them to seat. No big deal.
