I was just looking at the 870 shorty on dlask arms web site. It has an 8.5" barre and they show it with a pistol grip. The say it is non restricted, I'm just wondering how this can be legal and non restricted. Also would it be legal with the pistol grip on?

Thanks
Brad

As pictured with the regular stock its OAL is over 26", as soon as you attach the pistol grip its restricted... correct me if im wrong :)

LOOOONG argument here...short version....pistol grip = technically legal, but in all likely hood a long court battle if you get picked up with it installed....

Best way to do it IMHO (and I have 2 Dlask 870's) run them with the Knoxx SpecOps stocks....26 1/2 inch overall fully collapsed, and shooting 3 inch slugs with one hand...no problem.

2 3 inch in the tube, and no, you cannot build one in your garage.

I love mine and do not regret buying either of them.

You could if you get a gunsmith license...

and to make the shotgun restricted its easy. you change the stock call the cfo say its now under the 26 inchs I need to change the class send in the photos and they will approve it or send you to a verifier take it to them and then your basically done.

however you are given a thirty day grace period to reregister you non-restricted as a restricted. Might be hard to argue directly to a cops face but it is the law.

No, gunsmiths cannot manufacture barrels.

Wow...I thought I would be the only 'old schooler' to re-visit this damn argument...hahaha....hard to leave some topics alone, they all keep coming back....

And I do not believe the issue of "commercially available" vs "modified" was ever settled in a court was it? Maybe I missed it.

A commercially available pistol grip was technically okay, buyt cutting a stock down was not....but in all likely hood not going to fly in court anyways....so why try....haha

For the extra 6-7 inches, a Knoxx is perfect, with a little extra recoil absorption to compensate for the short barrel.
