Dlask's pump .223 up on the website

Ya, what the hell do you want a "pump"/ar15 clone, thats restricted for? Just go get the "real thing"... The only angles this thing "had" was hopes of being NON-restricted and using regular capacity ar mags cause it's a pump not a semi... It succeeds in neither of these...

Cheers
Jay

I think that a PAC5 with a 20" barrel and the proprietary mags would HAVE to be non-restricted...it fits all the criteria! If that was the case, I would certainly buy one....

Yes, it would be non-restricted by all accounts, but it isn't.

Yes, it would be, if it ever got made, which it won't.

That's funny - I was firing one Tuesday night at the Colby Club (Ontario).

It was a pre-production, out for a bit of field testing. Handled well, my only serious complaint is apparently fixed already for production (couldn't pull back on the slide while firing, same as an 870).

Given that we were horsing around at short range with a red dot mounted too low, it shot pretty well. Barrel is free-floating - that was a surprise.

Slide was slick as you could want, felt quite solid.

Didn't have any twenty/thirty round mags with it, we were stuck with pinned AR mags. I think the 20/30 rounders are still on the way to the guy who was running the testing. They have side ribs so they won't fit a standard AR magwell - you could see the indents on the PAC5 magwell.

I'm buying one. If you want to play with normal capacity mags, it's the best way to do it.

My understanding is, and it may be WAY off base, is that Dlask issued for consideration, the same rifle you see in the pics....how about submitting a 18.5+bbl version with proprietary mags and takin' 'em to court if they don't deem it non-restricted!!! Sheesh...

Oh yeah, they build prototypes, but prototypes aren't production.

Sure they have one. Do they have many? As in, many for sale?

No.

I can't understand how they stay in business.

As in, many for sale?

The website says summer 2006 for release. Which suggests that they are on schedule. If you don't like Dlask, OK, but he's being upfront on release dates on this one.

If he's late then I'll jump on your bandwagon.

Whenever it is released it will make a fine IDPA carbine for multi-gun shoots.

Fair enough, bro! Honestly, I hope they make it!

Does anyone know if they have any plans to make another version and
submit it to try and get the non-restricted status? It must be non-restricted for me to buy one.

I would like to support a Canadian company.

try and get the non-restricted

rumour is 'yes', but first ones will be restricted - still with the normal-cap mags though.

Why go with a future pump

I was going to say 'because you can put AR accessories on it', but obviously with enough determination you can do that to a 7615P! The PAC5 is handier and does have greater parts interchangeability with AR's if that matters to someone (it does to me).

I like it! If they're ever produced in a non-restricted model I'd buy it. Should make for a great little carbine to tote along while doing a little fishing and potting the odd coyote if he should happen along! Looks like it'd be lots of fun plinking and killing cans, especially with a 30 round legal mag! :D
