DNZ Game Reaper Mounts

I have a set on my VTR .223
Very well made, sits flat on the receiver and looks good.
The only issue that I have is the the scope I'm using (Redfield 4-12x40) sits kind of forward in the mount to provide me the eye relief that I need and looks goofy to me.

I bought the mount at the gun shop in town here. Cost me $80.00
The have more of them hanging on the wall. No idea what rifles they're for, they're behind the counter.

As an alternative, I got one of these from dealextreme, it was about $32 to the door, has a sight level, comes with cheap plastic inserts for 1" scope but its; alloy and 30mm. The base and bottom rings are all one piece. It does sit higher then the DNZ and is made for a picatinny rail, probably better suited for a budget varmint setup than a hunting rifle, I'm gonna try it on a mueller 8-32 scope I have for a varmint rifle at some point. :

Does that mount actually have hinges on each side of the top half? Or am I seeing it wrong...? It looks like one horizontal screw at the top holding together the left and right halves, which appear to be hinged to the bottom/base? Who manufactures that thing?

Yes, hinged side for the rail, and the top cap is hinged on either side with a cap screw to tighten them through the middle, I don't know who manufactures them, but it comes out of china. The structure seems quite rigid, I haven't run a lappin bar through it but I probably won't as its an aluminum alloy. I'm gonna see of it works for a cheap rail, for $32 it seemed worth a shot and the maching actually appears pretty good. I suspect it will work just as well as other high dollar options out there.

I have ordered one from Optics Planet (expensive shipping though), and most recently from Bass Pro's online store - they occasionally have free shipping promotional codes.

That is where I picked up mine recently as well (Bass Pro Online)....I have DNZ on three rifles now and love them. Some people don't like the look of them but I am more of a practical appreciation type...they work and I actually like the look.

DNZ Gamereaper... I have a couple dozen on various rifles (aluminum), they are sleek and solid, I like them;
