Do 45acp 1911s need to cleaned often?

TiteGroup, not only clean burning, but you can load almost twice as much ammo. If you reload, shooting clean burning powders help your gun shoot more reliably. All you need is a tiny bit of oil in the right places as stated above. I just brush off any carbon, run a boresnake though the barrel, a few shots of compressed air and good to go. Ya don’t really need to clean the gun more often than you shoot it.
Good mags, good ammo. If the gun needs more than that to run reliably, it would have different issues I think.

The Blaser Brass that I was using wasnt that impressive but I was also shooting the american eagle. Nice ammo but was still failing to eject after 100-200 rounds. What do think about Sellier and Belloit ammo?

I have shot that stuff, more in 9mm, but it is good, in 45 , I think it run clean, but been a while.
I don't shot huge amount at a time. I do know of a 1911 " service" gun that shot 2000 rounds in one go, with no problems. He run out of ammo, so stopped.
If it was a tight match barrel, than I can see maybe having a problem. I find the condition of chambers had a large effect on this .
I have a Kart match barrel on my 45, and in 5-6 yrs ,never had a problem, or stoppage. Lots of times, I just run a cloth through it, whip it off, a shot of oil and good for next session. Also running a red dot on the slide.

Hello everyone!
After going back to the range wiith my freshly cleaned and now well oiled 1911a1 I can report that the issue was from lack of proper oiling. Before I was using the clean and oil in one cleaner and it now appears that didnt provide enough lubricant for the slide. When I went to the range this time I specifically oiled the slide and cycled multiple times before wiping down the gun.

At the range I shot 50 rnds of Eagle, 50 rnds of Blaser and 50 rnds of Sellier and Bellot.
Not one failure to feed with all the rounds fired. Everything is still sooty but it did not cause any issues with reliability!
Not wanting to jinx anything, after coming home from the range I tore it down and gave it a good cleaning and oiling again

Thanks for the help everyone!
Lesson learned, oil that 1911
