Just starting to look into a new hunting rifle. My dad loves his 30-06 but says he prefers the ballistics of the .280 and I'd like one. I like bolts and semis both but I think I'd prefer a bolt. Anyone know of an over the counter set up available? If not I think a .270 will do for my needs.

I always thought .280 Rem would be a great cartridge because there's more bullet selection than .270 Win. In the end though, I went with .270 Win and have really never regreted it.

Model 84274 is the only Remington 700 in .280 Remington and that rifle is a Mountain SS. This rifle comes with a Bell & Carlson stock at 6.5 pounds. Mine is a BDL SS (Stainles Synthetic) which I have had since 1998.
.280's do show up on EE occasionally.
