Do any of you Fudds still use Nosler Partitions?

Not surprised at the waning sales. True gunnuts love to experiment and there are so many more bullets to play with these days than when the NP was the rage. Myself, I still have them on the shelf but have convinced myself long ago I didn't really need them for thin skinned, deer sized animals.

I grow fuddlier every day......

I think I'm gonna start a thread in Black Rifles asking the mall ninjas if any of them still shoot FMJ in their AR's for target. It will be meant in perfectly good humour though, completely without slight. We all get it right guys?

Nosler 2nds only had cosmetic blemishes, ....shot fine, ................remember when you could go to the factory and buy cases of 5000.
Hornady used to do the same, and I remember buying 20-30 cases of .44's and 7mm's (just about filled the truck box) and heading home. Only finished the last of the .44's a couple of years ago.

The guns I use for hunting big game, deer & up, get loaded with Partitions. Haven't seen a reason to change yet. I doubt I will bother to change, I have used them for over 30 yrs.
I am a Fudd fan, I'd go huntin wit Elmer any time.

Back to Fudd cup & core bullets for you, which is exactly the opposite of what the bullet makers want us to do. Unless your shooting a very high velocity cartridge, why bother with a NP or TSX/TTSX for deer?

Yep I used a ton of them over the years with no issues and it was a very good alternative cost wise. I would buy them state side in shops. They must have been in canada also some where since I have bought two batches of mixed bullets from members here since I joined and both had some in the mix
I talked to one of my brothers state side last night and he says he is still buying nosler seconds and most bags of 50 are under 15 bucks and most over run bags of 500 under 50 bucks. Imagine His powder prices are less than 1/2 of what I pay also
Here is the place he said that he still gets them from and the inventory changes weekly. Also says they do the same with loaded ammo and brass Suprised nobody in canada has jumped on these to resell

We tend to get Fuddier with age... my son was a Fudd from the time he took his first steps... he disliked all the star wars rigs and started carving his own stocks at a young age... maybe Fuddism is genetic and skips a generation?

I have a small stash of 170 grain NPs for the 30-30. Thing is, I have a nagging feeling someday I think acquire a rifle in 30-40 and these probably would be an ideal deeper penetrating big game bullet for that chambering. Anything around here I would choose the 30-30 carbine to use on, does not really require an NP.

that's just me........

Funny how the factories keep cranking out ordinary bullets for ordinary users. They seem to make most of the people happy, most of the time. If something kept more people happy, more of the time it would take over the market and become the new standard.

Guess I'm a "Fudd" also, .....I prefer walnut and blue guns, and use Partitions. Guess what, ...I'm also over 40!!

hahaha ... me too

Use partitions in all my hunting loads and always performed well, maybe there are better bullets for less $$ now but after 25 years for me they always worked as expected........ So if it ain`t broke don`t fix that`s my philosophy.

It would be pretty hard to successfully argue that one "needs" a Nosler Partition for deer. [or any other premium bullet, for that matter]

However, where I hunt, generally when the deer season is open, so are Elk and Moose. It is nice to have a bullet loaded that will get
in to vitals from practically any angle on these larger cervids.

The additional cost of NP's over C&C bullets is certainly not enough for me to leave them on the shelf while I hunt. After all, one or two
shots at game will not break the bank. The peace of mind is what I like. Others must make their own decisions. I have no argument with those
who prefer C&C bullets.....it is entirely a matter of choice. [and past success]

And as for Nosler seconds, I have several bags at home on the shelf. They work just fine!!

Regards, Dave.

I'm with Eagleye. The added cost of hunting with premium bullets isn't much compared to the benefits

"Premium" covers a lot of turf. Everything from target bullets that might blow up in the box to tungsten solids have been promoted as premium by someone. All of them are probably good for something, none of them are best for everything. Price doesn't have anything to do with that.

I will amend that to "premium hunting bullets applicable to the quarry sought"

Hopefully that removes any confusion. ;)
