I feel you. All but two of my guns have irons as a back-up, or as primary sights. My Eotech has been fine, but, I've heard of many issues. I have a cop buddy in Washington, that teaches a lot of tactical training, (more certs than I can count, and military exp) and he swears by Eotech. Tell him they are crap.
I think the Aimpoint product is excellent, but I have several bushnell Trs-25's that hold zero, never need new batteries, have a decent, small clear dot with awesome brightness adjustment, and never fail for me, on any gun. They cost me $150 each. I have a Leupold Delta point, that in Canada, retails around $500. I think the TRS-25 is superior. I just can't justify cost without improvement, even if the product is excellent
