Okay, this might be a stupid question... I've been shooting non-restricted for decades, but I just decided to get into pistol shooting. I have my RPAL already and my LTATT application is in progress.
Once I have my LTATT in hand, when I go to purchase my first restricted weapon, do I need to bring that to the gun store before they will let me take it home?
Or is it more a case of it's my responsibility to have an ATT? In other words, if the gun store gives me the gun to take home, and I didn't have an ATT, it's my problem, I go to jail, not them.
I have no problem with showing the LTATT to the gun store at all. Not a big deal. This is more a question of personal responsibility. I'm in favour of personal responsibility, and therefore I feel that it's really not the gun store's concern if I have the proper documentation, other than the RPAL, which obviously they need to transfer it to my name.
Of course, if it is a legal requirement that the gun store sees my ATT, then that is a different story. I guess I'm asking if they legally need to see it, or they just want to see it, or they don't usually care (it's my problem)?
(Don't worry, I won't be transporting or buying anything until I have my ATT. I'm asking mainly out of curiosity and to better understand procedures for restricted firearms).
