Leaning towards getting one, but the 'Sissy Whistle' is gone. Are they that lively or were they just a bit too big for Egyptians ?
And yep I shoot Milsurp and none of it 'kicks like a mule' IMO

Dont think you need one. It does not affect felt recoil anyway. This is a large and heavy rifle so just pull it firmly into shoulder and you will be fine.

the muzzle on the Hakim is a flash hider, not a muzzle brake.

Read of it both descriptions; brake and flash finder, thought I'd quiz the masses.

And Sail32; it's ain't a 338 Lapua...
Too many Sis...um... people want to put a Brake on silly stuff. Mosin 91/30 doesn't need a brake, lol...man up.
8 x 57 pushing a 150 grain pill can't be that lively.

Hakim blows almost as much gas from the action than from muzzle end.
Its direct impingement system almost at the eye level so need good safety glasses. As it need lots of gas to cycle you will get lots of it in your face. Reloading brass after it went through Hakim is adventure in itself. If you can find it, you would not recognize it. Rims will be punctured and cases mangled beyond useable state.
But aside from that its fun rifle to shoot.

Not a muzzle brake?? Then why, when I unscrew the brake on my shooter Hakim, does it make a way less noise? When I use the attachment, it blows back a way more, and is a lot noisier.

I am aware the Hakim is in 8mm as I had one in the past.

It has a muzzle break.

The Rifle No 5 Mk I , or Jungle Carbine, has a flash hider, or a conical flash suppressor, if you prefer..

The Canadian C1 had a, " Flash eliminator of the slotted tube type ", as per 1961 military designation.

And with a blank round 7.62mm, you can send a live Thunderflash down range at a good distance.
