Do I even need the front band on my m14EBR?

This m14 of mine is all setup in the blackfeather RS chassis, with the long sightplane rail, do I even need the front band?? It serves zero purpose with the system it seems and I don’t see them used at all on the M39 system the marines use. Also m14.ca has a picture of one with no front band setup similar to mine.

I dunno how it works with the Blackfeather but with the M39 (and all Sage systems) you replace the front band with a washer or crush washer.

I got rid of mine with the Blackfeather and installed a Sage washer in its place. Ordered it out of a place in Alberta for $8.

Not required on either set-up, I own both.
