Ok here is my range report.I almost was gonna put the gun on the EE because you have to keep the bolt open when you insert the mag and give the bolt a nice throw to put a round in the chamber. The mag only holds 4 when loading??Anyways here is my 8 shoot group at 61 meters with romanian surplus from Le Bar

Can you do the bolt mod on a D so that you can load a full mag? I cant see why not. Its definitely worth the time it takes. Especially when youve got a gun with such slick mags... its a shame to have the bolt open limitation.

your dad paid only $75 so that is a 433% return today . pretty damn good if you ask me .

anyways , you should be able to put in the mag without having the bolt open , take a look at the bolt and compare it to the bolts in the FAQ chinese SKS sticky .

mag should hold 5 , try another mag .

If you have to open the bolt to insert the magazine, then it is possible that someone replaced the bolt with one that is not for an SKS-D. Maybe?

The SKS-D bolt is different than the standard SKS bolt and needs to stay that way to feed from the AK mags.

You can just take the mag apart and file down the bottom of the follower a little. JUST a little. File a bit, then check. I have done a few 5 round AK mags this way so they fit the SKS-D without allowing them to fit in a 6th round. Having to open the bolt to insert a mag is just unacceptable.

I'm still kicking myself for not buying more of these back in the day. Who knew?

This is why I try to buy anything that goes bang as soon as it gets to market.

BTW, my D has a hard time keeping mags in place when shooting. Anyone else have this issue?
