i was just wondering if anyone had any suggestions on a caliber that i would need to fill in my hunting arms, so i currently have a 30-06, 300 win mag, 22-250 and a 30-30 for hunting rifles and a 12ga and 20 ga for hunting shotguns! Any suggestions? or am i squared away?

Depending on where and what you plan to hunt maybe a 375 H&H or a heavy, beyond that I'd say you have all the boxes checked.

Ya, and this advice coming from a guy with over 180 firearms.........JJJEEEEEEZZZZEEEE.........:redface::redface:

Like other have mentioned, you need a .22 LR and you have a hole in the upper end, in the .375 range.

There's nothing on this continent that you couldn't take with those cartridges, so yes, you have it covered. If you don't have a light weight mountain rifle, then that would be my suggestion.

A good .22, something long range specific like a .338 Lapua or Edge/RUM, maybe something in a target rifle, or competition shotgun.A light mountain rifle, a decent medium like a .375, then another in a heavy. How are you set for weatherproof? Then there's blackguns, a handgun or two. Is there a muzzleloader season around?

See how it goes? Ive been between 2 and a dozen guns away from happiness my whole life and don't seem to be gaining on it. Hovering around 100 for the last several years and am still a couple or 12 short.

Never buy a 22, they disappoint, but 17 hmr. The increase in ballistic efficiency more than offsets ammunition costs

45-70 lever, enough said

No 25? Everyone should have a 25! I agree a big bore needs to be added.

Every year in bear camp the guys all throw a round on the table. Used to be 270 3030 308 303 then one got 300 Wm and thought he had a cannon. So then I dropped a 45/70 and 458 wm round on the table. The look on their faces. Priceless

Platform matters almost as much as the cartridge... what are your rifles? You have three .30 cals and then nothing all the way down to .22/250... that is the void I would fill first... a 6.5mm or 7mm in a nice bolt action. If you are comfortable with the WM, you could ditch the .30/06 and pick up a .35 or .375... I'll assume your .30/30 is a Win 94 or Marlin 336... then there are the fun, classics to be considered like .44 Mag, .45/70 etc... they are fun to shoot and can do short range duty on game, and in the right platform (lever) are a nice quick action carry... what/where do you hunt? Do you want to cover potential game that you might travel for? What game would that be? A little more info would get you better answers. As has been said, in the right platform, a .300 WM pretty much covers NA hunting... but that is not likely to satisfy a gun nut.

I've heard the .300 WN described as a perfect high performance caliber for hunters who aren't very interested in rifles. It doesn't matter much where you go, the .300 owner always gets a short turn on the campfire rifle discussion. He knows his will work in practically any circumstances, for just about anything and often isn't all that interested in wondering what else works. Everyone else knows it too, so there's not much to discuss.

Personally, I don't think any safe is complete without at least one .458 bore. Long or short, doesn't matter, they're all good. You will never truly understand the meaning of "blood trail" until you poke a nearly 1/2" hole through something.
