Was at the range today with my 858.

Fired about 100 rounds through her and the trigger stopped working.

The rifle is cocked and pulling the trigger should fire, but when I pull the trigger it feels sticky, like metal grinding on metal and it will not release.

Now I know that you have to release the trigger to take the gun apart too - What do i do now? Can I force the dust cover off while its cocked?

This stinks. Anyone else had the same problem?

Thanks

I just had the same problem. It is at the gunsmith right now. To strip it down, I had to remove he pistol grip, and release the striker with a small screwdriver. DO NOT PRY OFF THE DUST COVER, you have to remove the pistol grip. I was not able to duplicate the problem, but I brought it to my gunsmith anyway, just in case.

Good Idea!

Shoot.... See i wont be able to do that with mine. I had an issue when i first got it. The nut pulled through the receiver frame and Wolverine welded the nut back into place so there is no way for me to get at the trigger from below....

Please update this when you hear back from your GS.

On a side note, anyone know a good place to bring an 858 for some TLC in Calgary?

Thanks

So, you cant even remove the bolt for the pistol grip?If you can remove the bolt, even something like a paperclip should fit through the hole. It isnt too hard to release the striker.

Ahh... dust cover is difficult to take off because the striker is cocked and the spring is under load. Technically you could, if strong enough :)

But get ready for the cover to get launched (wear eye protection.)

Curious, did you buy the gun new or used?

This one was new direct from Wolverine. Only its second outing ~400 rounds through it.

I'm trying punkrockboys way of releasing the trigger from below, but all i see is a bolt hole so I'm not having much luck here.

even with square nut welded , you should be able to put a hook thru the hole and release the striker .

Funny... Without reading that link I did exactly whats in that link. Just one trip to the garage to grind down the allen key hehe I even made a video thats uploading to photobucket as we speak. I will post it when its done.

So at the end of that thread the conclusion was it's caused by a burr on the disconnect?

on my rifle there is some wear on the sear and also on part of teh receiver thats holding together the trigger assembly.

EDIT:

Videos:

Sear is not releasing firing pin:

How I got the firing pin to release finally:

Why the firing pin didn't release even when the spring was depressed
Looks like the sear isn't connected to the trigger somehow. It barely moves not near enough to release the firing pin

also, what do you guys make of the wear on the sear and just beside it? Is this normal?
