Do I need a PCP?

I've been using one of the Chicom air compressors from AGS (also available from Amazon) and it has no issues filling my 580cc/300BAR bottles on my two FX rifles. It does take it's time to fill, but it's always worked so long as you can plug it in somewhere or connect to 12v as it is powered by both. I usually keep a scuba tank with me as a backup in case I need to top up without having access to power. I have a buddy who dives and has his own high pressure comp so when I need to fill the cube tank, it usually cost me a coffee for the fill.

I have a HW100 carbine that I hand pump. I have a Vevor hand pump and it works well enough for me. Good excersize and I get about 60 full power shots from a fill in .22. If you buy a gun with a larger tank, a pump would not be great, but for the smaller tanks I see no reason for a compressor. 20260117_144511.jpg

I ran a .25 Avenger for 3 years as my primary grouse gun. I have the synthetic stock; it's been flawless. Incredibly accurate out to the ~50 yards I shoot max for hunting. I shoot mostly H&N Baracuda Green - my wife likes that I shoot with no lead. These are 20gr .25 caliber pellets which I find are ideal for grouse. Groups are always touching.

I recently moved on to an FX DRS in .25 with the wood stock and I'm very happy with it. Also super accurate but is quite a bit lighter. It doesn't have the dual gauges the Avenger has but it's a beauty to carry and shoot. More paper for sure though.

I have quite a bit of rimfire and use this more than any of them. Simply more quiet for my dogs when I hunt with them.

I use a hand pump mostly but did recently get an Amazon pump unit for about 250$...works amazing.

Well....this thread got me thinking about going down the PCP rabbit hole. I figured it was now or never so picked up a Reximex Zone .177 non-pal.
From what little I know about PCP I've read the 260cc tank @ 250bar (Max) is hand-pumpable. I have a 3-stage 30mpa 4500psi being shipped from Vevor.ca
Looking forward to the journey.....

Quick update.....
I ordered the pump Saturday afternoon and it arrived at my work this morning(Monday). That was fast!
From zero pressure in the Reximex Zone tube it took 200 slow even pumps to get it to 200bars. Many reviews suggest keeping it under the 250bar to prolong the tube. Sounds like good advice to me.
Reports suggest I should get about 100+ shots before the pressure drops to the 100bar level. At this point consistency will drop off and the tube should be refilled. I'm curious to find out how many pumps it takes to go from 100bar to 200bar. I'm sure I'll find out soon :)

To answer the OP's question "Do I need a PCP?".......for me it's a solid Yes!
After shooting the Zone with a fixed 4x I decided to try out an old (20+yrs) Bushnell 3-9x. Imo the Bushnell looks more balanced size wise and it's getting used again.
So far it's been a blast shooting it with the single shot tray and/or the 2 14rnd mags. My only complaint is I didn't buy one sooner......

I have the exact pump for my HW100. Great pump, easy to work on (my compression chamber piston needed adjustment after a while) and you can't beat the price.

Ok....I'm done messing around. Found an inexpensive scope that has features that I want and some unnecessary.
UUQ 4-16x44 with parallax adjustment down to 30ft. Locking turrets with zero reset and B/G/R illuminated mil-dot reticle.
I think this < $100 scope it will be fine on this low recoil PCP.......

Wonder if it's easier than my old(er) Gehmann pump?

I had to search to find where you bought a Rexi Zone. I didn't know Tenda sold them. Now, I need one, but I need to sell some to make room.
