Do I need a pump shotgun?

Uh huh, did too lol.

Semi's are heavy. Not my choice for walking upland/pheasant hunting.

I did sell my trusty wingmaster.......because I replaced it with a real nice light sxs for pheasant. Still have a mossy pump though......

My pump weighs more than my semi

Semi for waterfowl, skeet, Pump for SHTF. Every other purpose is either semi or pump.
You need both, ideally, 3-4 variants of each.

I figure with a couple pumps, a couple semis, a SXS and a couple single shots I can cover the shotgun shell spectrum. Last few years a favourite has been a 20 gauge coach gun. Not selling any of the 12 gauges though.

Even just owning a single 870, having a few different barrels and chokes and maybe a +2 extension, it can easily swap to become several different shotguns. It's like Lego for big kids!

I own both a semi and pump, I think of it as manual transmission vs automatic. Semis are easier to get shots off but like a manual trans pumps are more fun.

I can see the usefulness of pumps but I've used and O/U for most of my life and occasionally a semi. Can't teach oan old dog new tricks, I'm afraid...
