Do I need a species tag for Coyote and Ravens in BC?

I was looking though my synopsis last night and noticed coyotes have NBL and are open until march 31 here in my region, and raven all year round and also are NBL.
I have lots of varmint rounds for my sks and my friend was telling me there is a bounty on coyotes also. I have two days off and and going stir crazy, feel like taking the sks out for some target practice.
Just wondering if i need to go grab a tag for either of the two species? Or if they are treated the same as grouse...but without a limit?

You don't need a tag for coyotes, but you didn't read the regulations very close on ravens.
They are protected.
Only ranchers can shoot them to protect their livestock.
 
Cool, thanks. Just wondering what page the 2010-2012 synopsis can I find that about ravens? The only thing remotely close I could find is on page 14, "Schedule B" and "Schedule C" animal lists, only seeing crows (Corvus caurina, Corvus brachyrhynchos), magpie (pica pica) and some brown headed crow known as "Molothrus ater". listed under "C" as needing to be on your property.
Wikipedia says Ravens are "Corvus corax", which is not listed under "Schedule C".
I'm confused.

which applies to vancouver only. every region is different.

Your friend is wrong,there is no bounty on coyotes in BC,and as H4831 says ravens are off limits for casual shooters on Crown Land. Mur
 
Oh I understand the regulations, but I would rather save a trip to the service center. I was hoping someone in my region may have some insight. I figured it out anyway's. In the Cariboo (region 5) Ravens can be only hunted on private land, but in my region (region 4, Kootenays) they can be hunted anywhere that I can hunt.
Region 4 coyote and ravens both have No bag limit in my paper copy of the regs, the online copy says a bag limit of 5 for ravens, but still mentions nothing about being on private land. Gophers however are on private land only.

No one should kill a raven, crows yes, ravens no. From what i have read, almost all canadian Aboriginals hold the Raven in the highest regard,never mind they are the coolest flyers out there. They fly by the house when hungry and I feed them dogfood. What happened, did a raven #### on you or something.

They annoy the s**t out of me when I go golfing..lol. I have respect for the cool birds, Hawks, Eagles, Falcons, Owls...

If you lived around ravens every day, you might feel differently about them. If they find a warm place to hang out in winter, the result can be crap inches deep by spring. As well, it's no fun removing raven crap from vehicles, especially in winter.

This is the type of stuff that kills us and the anti's love (anti firearms and anti hunting) .. in-fighting. If someone likes to shoot them and is looking for the regulations around it to make sure they are doing so legally, that should not cause concern for anyone, in fact kudos for him making sure of the regs before going out. He doesn't need to justify his actions to anyone and certainly did not ask for personal opinions on shooting Ravens.

As already mentioned .. In BC there are both seasons with bag limits for Raven depending on the area as well as all year round shooting them on private property if they are causing problems. There are no conservation concerns with this species. Many ranchers up here would welcome more of his ilk.

This is total Bambi loving, anti-hunting type BS.... most all predators will kill for sport or play if the oppurtunity is there. Have you ever seen the results of a coyote or owl that has got into a chicken or duck pen.

You may want to review your thoughts on that one!
Wolves and coyotes will kill for sport, weasels do so regularly, and also some of their tribe other than weasels.

While I primarily hunt for meat to eat, I am not averse one bit to destroying the varmints that cause problems for farmers, fruitgrowers, etc.
And I have NO intention of eating any [literal] crows, gophers, starlings, etc.

A quick glance at the synopsis shows that ravens are open on private land in Region 5 and 7B, and general open season in Region 4...... Didn't look at 3,2,or 1...

Region 4; RAVENS: "NO CLOSED SEASON". 4-1 to 4-9, 4-14 to 4-40 bag limit 5

Kinda like religion and politics, you shouldn't impose your beliefs on others. And for the record, my neighbours cat kills for sport all the time.
