I just received an FN FNP-45 pistol and I see that the chamber has poor support near the case head. I should have done my homework better. Does anybody know if Norinco 45 ACP 230 gr FMJ meets SAAMI specs and has anyone used the Norinco 45 ACP in a FNP-45, FNX-45, or Glock 21 or similar? I have a query into Canada Ammo regarding the SAAMI spec question.
The FNP-45 pistol was received (mail order) with some wear marks indicating it is not new as was indicated by the seller (a Gunshop) so I may work to return it. However, if I keep the gun I would expect that I can use the Norinco ammo without voiding my warranty on the gun. If I use the Norinco ammo, I'll wear safety glasses (standard), ensure I have my leather/kevlar gloves, and check religiously for case bulges and primer pressure indications. But, as I write this, I'm thinking I don't know the difference between brave and stupid. I've heard of a few kB!s with FNP-45, but no significant injuries and FN replaced pistols with FNX-45 which has a little better case support. Doe anyone have similar experience or thoughts?
Thanks.
