Well as I am sitting here this morning I found a WBY Vanguard sporter in .257 located 2 hours from me. An it just so happens that above said 2 hours from me is where I will be on Tuesday morning. I just happen to have brass, dies ,slugs and all the fixins to make it work out. Its the blued model with walnut stock and I handled one b4 and told myself that I need one. It will be just a s**ts and giggles rifle and I always wanted to use a .257 on speed goats...Oh and its brand new and just a smidgeon over 600 bucks for it.:)

So help me justify it...I havent bought a rifle in over 2 months now and think I am suffering withdrawals...I need some CGN therapy...:HR:

I had a Vanguard, decent for the price, but only a 24" bbl. Sold it and got a Rem 700 CDL SF in 257,26" bbl, after having 257 withdrawal. Threw on a McMillan stock, now it's a near perfect rifle. The 257 is an awesome round which everyone should own at least once.

I always wanted a .257 wby...found a great deal in here on a sub moa with brass, dies etc. and bought it. But I always wanted a 700 classic in 7mm wby and wouldnt you know it one came up for sale in here 2 weeks later. So I bought it also and sold the sub moa to my boss and I never even fired the dang thing. He is shooting factory ammo with it and getting .75 inch groups.

Now as I sit at my reloading bench and look at the dies, lots of slugs and can hear the brass screaming to get used...I have this feeling...

I owned a Mark V in 257wby for several years before selling it, and now my local dealer has the Remington on at clearout pricing(dealer cost) so I am avoiding going into his store for a while. I already broke down and purchased a CZ455 from him for $388, and I don't want to increase my visa bill any more with gun purchases.

My buddy had a Mark V in 257 Weatherby he told me it was his all time favorite rifle/cartridge combo for long range coyotes/deer...

Personally I do not have an interest in the cartridge...

Everyone who doesn't have a .257 should get one. Or in my case two, one Mark V, and one Remington. Both shoot well.

You know, for all the talk about Remington problems they normally seem to shoot. It's almost boreing.

Do you have room in your safe? there is your justification

and no new guns in 2 months! you must buy one now or run the risk of getting booted from CGN! lol

The first two custom rifles i hade made were in this chambering, i will never be without one!

I have 3 safes and all are overfull....I need a bigger house and more closet room me thinks..

Everyone needs a .257, if for no other reason than to disprove the "velocity doesn't improve killing power" crowd. Those little bullets have been hammering things since the 40s.

Roy drilled zebra and a rhino with his .Not recommended but a neighbor lady shoots moose annually with her's with 120gr loads.............Harold
