Just adopted a beagle, just wasn’t the same around here since our old beagle cross passed in the spring. The other two dogs are too quiet lol, 6 days till he shows up.

Pick him up on Friday, he’s coming in from the east coast. The foster family has had him for 6 months and said he doesn’t bark or howl for the most part but we’ll see, I hope he does actually lol.

So I guess I have an anomaly, the new beagle doesn’t bark or howl lol. He makes some cute squeaking noises when he wants pets though.

You can always train it.

I’m fine with a quiet beagle, there’s enough barking dogs on the road I’m on. He’s great with people, livestock and our other dogs so he’s a keeper. Super sweet personality, good energy level for a 6 yr old dog but not bonkers.

Buy a beagle if you enjoy rabbit hunting. That would be the number one reason, first and foremost.

Thought I’d update this now that it’s been 5 months or so, since he’s settled in and clearly is happy as a pig in shít he’s barking and howling like a reg beagle. He’s been putting the run on any squirrel, chipmunk or rodent that he can sniff out, it’s hilarious to watch. Living the beagle life to the fullest, the goats weren’t impressed with him but he would happily be friends if they would let him.
