Do I want a KRG bravo? Updated-Got one!!

So I am upgrading my stock for my Remington 700 in 223. I only shoot from the bench or prone. I don't compete, but perhaps one day I might. I have an oryx chassis on a savage and I really like it for the price. I upgraded to the MDT vertical adjustable grip and really like the feel of it all. I am trying to determine whether I want to try the KRG on my Remington or just get another bravo. The oryx is $50 cheaper. Anyone have both or shot both? I wish I could handle the bravo to see. Input is appreciated. Thanks

Picked up the bravo this morning. I'm impressed with it so far just fooling around with it in the kitchen. Can't wait to take it to the range and see how it handles. Included a pic with the oryx I have. Will see how they compare as they are similar in price. Oh and thanks Go Big Tactical. Great guys to deal with and I'll be back.

KRG Bravo.

This is the best budget chassis available IMO, punches way above it's weight class. The ergonomics are great, and there's a plethora of accessories available to customize the chassis. Bag riders, NV bridge, spigot mounts, ARCA/RRS rails, picatinny rail mounts, weight kits, etc.

It's a chassis you can "grow into" and change as your preferences change. Very well designed with lots of great features and accessories. The Oryx is a come as it is chassis, doesn't have the accessories available to it that the Bravo does.

Have a Bravo on the wife's rifle, and it's a great chassis for the price.
 
Haven’t used the oryx but I fell in love with long guns again after getting my 6.5 in a KRG Bravo chassis from Tom at Go Big Tactical.
Really like the fit and adjustment it offers, plus the price is nice.

If I had to do it all over again, I would absolutely buy the bravo chassis again, especially from good people like GBT.
If I ever get a trainer T1X I’ll probably put it in a Bravo as well.
 
I am really impressed with my Bravo. Got one for my T1X and now considering another one for my 700 LTR even though it already has a nice stock. For the price, it just works.
 
Keep in mind it is a budget oriented chassis! I would likely never purchase another one but I also would never discourage anyone from buying one. There are a few minor annoyances, to me, which you should be made aware of. The fit and finish on the cheek riser is poor. I added hockey tape to mine to add some grip and to make the rest more comfortable against my cheek. Also, the butt and forend exterior panels do not line up properly. For the price of the chassis I try to look past that. As mentioned earlier the ergos are good and there are a lot of accessories that you can add. The forend is quite short so I would recommend looking at the spigot mount to extend your bipod out further past the forend. Another worthwhile accessory is the toolless buttpad mechanism. Good luck!

Thanks for the honest opinion. I'm not expecting $2000 quality in a $600 chassis. I like the look of it, accessories available, and the AICS mag acceptance. I will give one a shot and see how it compares to my oryx.
 
Full disclosure, I'm no precision shooter (wish I was). I bought a KRG Bravo Chassis from Scott at Red Star this past year for my Tikka Ctr in .308. What inspired me initially was to find something that would accept better and more affordable/accessable magazines for my rifle. Immediate improvement in accuracy, had it out to 500 yards, still working on it. But here are pics from last week, nothing stellar but at 100 yards, pretty pleased.
You are right, it's affordable, lots of accessories, pretty comfortable to shoot.#Hope this helps.

I've only ever used polymer short action mags and they ran great, in fact my 6.5 fed much better out of the polymer. The chassis has some adjustments between the trigger guard and foreend, by way of elongated holes, that allows you to tighten up the fit on the mag.

That's interesting Blue I know several guys that had feeding issues with polymer. KRG says no to the Magpul polymer with their chassis. What brand were you running?
 
Interesting, like I said my experience was limited to just the one caliber. I believe they were all Magpul Pmags. That being said, I think my issue was feed lip related with the AICS mag I had. A little bit of file work seemed to eliminate the issue.
 
You can adjust the magwell of the Bravo to fit different mags.

The Magpul polymer mags worked for my wife's rifle with KRG Bravo, but I did slightly file down the feedlips. I've since moved on to the MDT metal 12 rounders for her 6BRA, and those are working really well out of the Bravo + LP Fuzion combo.
 
The MDT polymer magazines will run okay with 6.5CM/308W based cartridges, but the metal variants are typically a better solution. In saying that, there are some new products in the pipe from MDT that will give you more options soon :D
 
I'm shooting 223 in this setup. I might just bite the bullet and order a steel mag as well as a polymer to try. I have had good luck with the mdt polymer mag running 6.5 creed and 308 in my oryx and magpul bottom metal in another gun. The price on the polymer mags is appealing especially if they work good.
