I'm looking for a 12g. semi-auto that can do it all reasonably well. At present, after talking with friends who hunt and shoot trap/skeet, I'm leaning towards a Benelli SBE II, but I am hoping that a few of you could weigh in on that and help me to see if I have overlooked anything. Cheers in advance.

Was going to mention my thread but was beat to it - it really did come down to feel (shoulder and textures/sizes of grips, etc) and choosing between gas and inertia for me. I spoke to others what had both and gained their insight and shouldered as many as I could over quite some time before deciding what I liked best as well as my budget. My findings were that the Beretta A400 and Benelli SBEII were the cadillacs however I decided to get 2 guns that were more than capable for my needs and of high quality for almost the same as 1 of those.

Thanks for all the replays everyone! I think I'm going to try and track down some folks at our trap club here and shoot a few different guns. Shouldering them in store is great, but I would like to actually shoot a few before investing 2k. Good to know I'm on the right track though! Thanks again!

I've found the SBE II the best all arounder.

I use mine for hunting, sporting clays, 3-gun, and bear/camp defense.

I have a 26" and an 18.5" barrel for it and a mag extension. Can also float one.

Yes, there are some better at some things than it, but for all around I haven't seen anything come close.
