Do JAE-100 and other fancy stocks interfere with receiver scope mounts?

As my brother builds up his M-14, he is unsure whether to get a scope/mount next, or an improved stock. He would like a JAE/100, SAGE, or similar advanced stock type, but more immediately wants a stock. However, he is concerned that a receiver mounted scope (as per the A.R.M.S. #18 or Smith Enterprises) might interfere with some of the cuts and lines of the new stocks, thus necessitating remounting. Is this the case?

Should my brother buy an advanced stock or a scope and mount first?

If he goes with a JAE or Sage or the Canadian Sage, I think he would be better off getting a stripper clip guide mount. Way way cheaper than an Arms or other similar mount.

The full length top rail and clip guide mount negates the need for receiver mounts. Also, with medium high rings you'll also be able to use the irons.

I'd get the stock first and then decide on the optics and mounting solution.

Could you tell me if you put the mount on before or after buying the stock?

Gathered all the parts, including the stock, and did the assembly all at once. The ARMS 18 sits low, so I had to notch out the rear of the handguard to make room for the front set screw of the mount. Other than that, everything fits well with no interference or binding.
