Newbie question. Does the Magpul pmag fit in the LAR-15 pistol. The reason I ask is, if it does fit could it not be argued that the pmag is an aftermarket LAR-15 pistol mag. As such could It not be purchased pinned to 10.
As I read the law the weapon that the mag is put in is not where round limit is decided but the wepon that the mag is designed to fit. There for a pmag pinned to 10 would be technical legal to use in my ar-15.
The only legal way to have 10 round PMAGs would be if Magpul were to make a dedicated 10 round version and mark it as being intended for the LAR-15 pistol.
I have modified my LAR-15 magazines by fitting the Ranger Plates and modifying the follower to retain the 10 round capacity. I do this by marking the rear leg of the follower at 1.025" from the top, cutting with a hacksaw, and filing to fit. A little trial and error is normally required to allow the full magazine to be inserted with bolt forward without excessive force while preventing an 11th round from fitting.
