Plastic on metal is basically a lube. May need deburring of the follower, or a better follower. Could also re coat in dry film lube, which is what the mags are coated in from factory to give that finish. Could also be the rivet as some suggest.

Correct... A spring is a spring is a spring. Repeated cycling wears it. Just being compressed doesn't do jack squat
