I don't even LIKE Remingtons and will take any 700 of anyone's hands because they feel they are unsafe and that also includes the Versa Max, Express, etc...!!This Remington trigger BS gets recyled time and time again, ad nauseum. The fact remains that proper gun handling prevents injuries or fatalities as respects firearms.
Anyone that want to give me their defective Remington 700's due to fears about the trigger group, I will be very happy to accept. Jeez, this cr*p gets stale after a while. Eagleye.
My friend has a couple Remington rifles, both of them had their bolt handles come off .. lol.
He has since sold them and bought a couple Savage rifles instead.
Look, I'm all about weapon owners researching before they buy, and continuing to research if there are legitimate safety concerns about a given product.
But, I have yet to see convincing (scientifically founded, supported by engineering research that we can review) information indicating a problem with the Rem700 trigger design -- only a lot of hearsay and reports by people who seem to have a vested interest in a court case. I have, however, seen some pretty good studies indicating that the "problem" only seems to occur in weapons in extremely poor (even negligent) condition or which have had post-vendor work done on the trigger group.
first hand experience with my dads remington 700 , in 3006 , made in the early 70's.
once you get guys talking , trigger / safety trigger issues with remingtons are starting to seem fairly common . almost to the point that i have become somewhat paranoind about my own remington .
Well, I have a friend who has one and loves it.Yes, Remington has had problems but I believe this thread started as a discussion about the Versa Max. Has anyone else heard anything about the Versa Max, good or bad, since this thread was started now that the gun is actually available? Is it a gun that could, to some degree, redeem Remington?
