Hi everyone,

After much research and reading a reloading manual, I finally feel confident enough to start reloading for my 308 bolt action rifle.

Now when it comes to factory ammo (I assume like most people), I like to stockpile when it goes on sale.....

My question is do reloading consumables (projectiles, powder, cases and primers) go on sale as well?

Reason I ask is I don't recall seeing such a sale in the past but then again I probably was focused on the factory ammo side only.

Thanks!

MM

Once in a while some sites on this forum have a x% off sale, but other than that I think you find a sale on a particular component only once in a blue moon. I reload .308 as well and my advice is to buy what you can, when you can, on sale or not as it is a challenge to keep up your stock of supplies.

Only two instances I can think of that would qualify:

1. If you can find it, it's on sale.
2. If it hasn't gone up in price from the last time you bought it, it's on sale.

I don't see it going on sale very often, but some places are more expensive than others, that's for sure. Any day of the week I can walk into my local little gun store and buy supplies much cheaper than most of the sponsors places.
This also applies to availability, most times the little shops always have inventory.

Very rarely, it's not something you can count on and definitely not something to wait for. You'll sometimes see things like expensive designer bullets that have sat too long get blown out to clear the shelf. The trouble with designer anything is its fashion sensitive.

Prices do float up and down over the years and vary from place to place. Since these days you have to try multiple places just to find what you want you might stumble onto s deal here and there.

Judging by the email offers I get, the Americans seem to have sales all the time. Fat lot of good that does us.

With the sporadic supply of reloading components today ,if you hesitate it's gone. Thank Chretien for waving the exemption offered to Canadians buying powder and ammo Stateside. Harold

While there might not be many sales per-say, some retailers offer more attractive prices than others. You might want to check the prices at Higginson Powder and Hummason Manufacturing, particularly if you intend to purchase in bulk.
