Do we all need a Tokarev TT-33?

I heard that there was a TT33 stowed under the drivers seat in the T55 tank. I checked out two KO'd Syrian tanks hoping to find one, and nada. It was either a myth or some other gunnut had beat me to it.;)

I call BS on all reasons I have ever heard for banning it

We have POUNDED the steel at our range with THOUSANDS of 9mm, .45 ACP, 357 Mag, .44 Mag......and nothing but wearing the paint off.
Thought what the hell and empty a mag of 7.62x25 surplus at it. 8 perfect little craters in 1/2" AR500 steel.
At $125 a target I can see why ranges don't allow it.

On a happy note they are a riot to shoot.
Our range is outdoor so we just bought a bunch of the little skeet stands and blast away at them.

even if it was there I bet you cant bring it home....

I bought one of the unissued ex-police Polish pistols, and a crate of Czech ammunition.
Accuracy is acceptable.
Hammer bites the web of my thumb.
Altered a Blackhawk Serpa 1911 holster to fit. Fitted a half round section of black ABS pipe along the front of the holster to compensate for the much smaller Tokarev.

We have already ran out of Ukrainian import, now only Russian left with ugly modern export markings. SVT also was made in millions, and they are gone now.

Btw there is a modern holster available from a vendor whose name shall not be spoken. I even ran a match for fun with TT.

Check eBay for holsters, if I could find a left hand kydex holster it shouldn’t be too hard to find right handed holsters. I think I only paid 15-20 bucks for it.

They are the sks of the handgun world.
Reasons to buy:
Super cheap.
Prices have increased 25% in the last 4 years and are only going to go up.
Getting hard to find.
Cheap surplus ammo.
History
Fun nazi killing hand cannon.

Reasons not to buy:
Ammo is expensive if you cannot find surplus
They aren't known for accuracy, but often people are shooting surplus ammo through battle worn barrels, so idk.

You can get unissued polish from sfrc, or a yugo for less than $300. Can't go wrong for that price.

I would pick one up at a decent price if the chance arises.
I sat on the fence for over a year before getting my 1942 Russian TT-33 and can only say I wish I got one sooner. Fun, stll relatively cheap (surplus ammo) to shoot and covered in history to top it all off.

And great fireballs from the x25. Also, anyone to your right at the range is going to get dotted. It flings casings far and wide and never in the same place twice.

I like Butcherbill's reply the best, looks like he likes the 7.62 family also, great choice if I do say so myself. Go buy yourself a TT op before you can't, you won't regret it. Just remember to totally disassemble and clean if you use surplus ammo.
