Do we need to own a boresighter ?

I wonder if we need a boresight for handgun? I heard if boresighter was crappy,it would be even worse than do it yourself,so how to choose a good quality boresighter?

For a Handgun? Waste of time/money. For scoped firearms, they are handy, but not totally necessary.
