Do you believe the RCMP did or did not keep info from the gun registry

The old registry gets more and more inaccurate as the days go by.
To get a more up-to-date one, they would have to rely on Cabela, Wholesale Sports, Epps, CanadaAmmo, etc, etc.

It's impossible all copies were destroyed. I'd bet a truckload of x39 that that last thing their DBM did just before dropping the database was the final backup lol

Absolutely no way there aren't copies sitting on servers, desktops and laptops all over the country. Plus there are several 'hard copies' (DVD or Blu-Ray) in RCMP offices.

I agree, it is most likely still around. One modern fact of life is that governments never give up or destroy information they might use someday to force their will upon honest citizens.

I would bet there are lots of copies of the 2012 data.
Not that it matters, as many items have changed hands

They know who has a RPAL/PAL.....for sure.

Regardless of all that, does it really matter? I don't think so. I didn't think it mattered then. Just my non paranoid opinion.

Who cares?

Its useless, this is part of the reason we never make any head way. Too many people worried about irrelevant non issues.

That's about how I see it. Killing the registry was more of a symbolic kicking of C-68 in the nuts gesture to me, than a massive meaningful overhaul. If you have a pal or r-pal, they probably assume you own a firearm or two.

But suppose you legally sell a 12 gauge double, check out the buyers PAL and all. Then he loses it and doesn't report it.
It is then cut down and used in a bank robbery, where it is used to kill a responding policeman, and left at the scene.
You can be darned sure it will be traced back to the last registered owner, who at the very least, will have some explaining to do.
He might even need a lawyer to clear him, which could be expensive.
I will now remove my tin foil hat.

If you aunt had balls she would be your uncle

Good luck with that LOL

Kind of hard to justify charges on information they legally can not be in possession of

This is true. You might end up being charged and end up in court, but the judge would toss the charges out the window pretty darn quick IMO.

As usual, you guys are totally overreacting.
I know for a fact that they got rid of the Registry.

Paulson himself, handed it to Santa (who was already going by his house to drop off Bob's Christmas Bonus), who handed it over to the Easter Bunny, who then buried it under a big pile of Cadbury Cream Eggs.
Problem solved.

While I doubt it's current value (since it never had any value to begin with), anyone who believes the Registry is well and truly erased from all databases, must also believe that J.F.K. fired first.

I'd bet they did keep a copy of the gun registry data. There were no consequences for keeping data or making copies. But here's the rub - the data would've been obtained/kept unlawfully and would be outdated, incomplete and unreliable, so it would be inadmissible as evidence for any of those reasons. Grabbers will need a proper lawful gun registry. Even Wendy admitted......ending the long gun registry set the program back decades. The strategy now is to re-register all the long guns. Without it, they can't confiscate guns.
