Do you clean you pistol everytime after your shoot?

Used to. Then i realized that i was probably contributing more wear and tear on them tearing them down and putting them back together ever week then i was shooting them till they warrented a tear down. If they get gunky, i blow them out with spray cleaner, and wipe out the mag wells. Rifles get cleaned depending on what they are, varmit stuff gets it more often, or anything that uses corosive ammo gets it immeadiatly.

Yeah But military use is a hell of a lot, I think every one here would clean after that amount of use.

Actually it's really not - the USMC did some investigation a few years back and found that the small arms in use, particularly rifles and carbines, suffered more wear and tear due to aggressive cleaning than from actual firing.

Crew-served weapons and support weapons are another matter altogether as they take a bigger beating due to their role and usage...

quick clean every few hundred rounds, detailed clean every thousand or so, wiped down with a soft cloth and G96 after every handling.

Pistols... If it's a plinking gun then no. I'll clean it when it sees around 1000 or so or if I know it'll be put away for a while I'll strip it and thoroughly clean it.

My hunting shotguns get a bore snake occasionally and grease during hunting season.

My hunting rifles get cleaned regularly after hunts even though they only see 10 bullets a year AT MOST.
