If you have a 1950 dated Long Branch, I need some information please: :runaway:

1. what are the first 3 digets of the serial #? eg.) 91L6
2. Is the action blued or parkerized?
3. what is the barrel date? ( 2 digets found on the knox-form) eg.) '50
4. is the barrel parkerized or blued?
5. is the bolt parkerized or blued?
6. is the striker parkerized or blued?

Thank You for your help.

I'm trying to pin down when LB switched to parkerizing from bluing.
I've been telling people for years that they switched early in 1950, but have come across info indicating a later date of change-over.

Unfortunately my sample is quite small, so I'm appealing to everyone for info.

I'm with Headdamage on this as well, it's tough to tell if my finish is a rough blue or a fine park:confused: If it is a blue, it is actually has a greenish "tinge" to the colour.

93L1074 still covered with cosmoline.

Absolutely unissued. Bolt hasn't been opened.
Everything, numbers match. Same finish thoughout.

I can take more close up pics of any part/area if that will help determine what exactly the finish is.

hope this helps

I still don't know if mine is considered blue or parked?

Any assistance would be appreciated...

If it's got that "greenish tint" I would consider it parkerized.

On mine the "grain" of the parkerizing is extremely fine, and I considered it blued until I was able to compare it to one that actually was blued.

The difference is quite striking.

If someone could post quality side by side pics comparing a blued rifle to a parkerized rifle, that would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks. The bottom one is parked... right?

I wonder what my 1948 Faz is finished in then because it looks nothing like either. It's pure black over-all, and the finish appears 'thick' in comparison to a blued rifle.
