Been tempted by a .44 or .45 levergun here and there in the past, but I've shied away so far because the heaviest recoiling gun I've shot was a 7mm Rem Mag, and I hated the recoil :redface::( (even more so than with 3" slugs in my 12Ga). But please:

I have a .375RUM and I shot a whitetail doe with it......basically removes all sign of life instantly.....scary really. .300gr TSX as flat as .270win 140gr ballistics.....only downside lightning fast recoil.....ouch
 
had a 375 h&h shot a black bear and a coyote and a bunch of gophers with it ,were all one shot killd except for a gopher they tough too stop lmao

Most rifles (unless custom) are built for average people - which means it probably won't be the best fit for you. The design of the stock is also very important - drop at heel and area (cross-section) at the butt are both important. Next is a good recoil pad - Limbsaver, Decelerator, F990 etc.

When you bring all of it together you get a very nice shooting rifle. You can't do much about the design of the stock on rifles you already own, but you can have the length of pull adjusted and a good pad installed.
 
I have used a 416 Rigby in a No1 or a RSM to shoot a fair pile of game over the years. It has claimed 2 elk, 3 moose, and a few deer including my biggest white tail which hangs on the wall. I have used a 375 H&H to shoot one black bear. I used my 460 Weatherby to shoot one white tail buck. I have a 404 Jeffery and it is still virgin. I can only use one at a time, so maybe next year.
 
I had a 375 H&H Pro Hunter but sold the barrel, still have the 50 cal ML barrel. I also have a gorgeous Sako Safari 375 H&H LH that I adore. Paper for both but did take the sako hunting a time or two.
 
Big-bore's

Have owned .375 and .458 ZKK Brno's decades ago plus a .375 Sako. Currently have a .375 H+H FN Browning and a custom Mauser .375 Taylor. No game taken yet, but have high hopes for this fall.

i have one. a custom rem in 375h&h. wasn't ready from the smith in time for last years spring bear. its ready for this spring!
 
Had a 375 H&H for three years. One dead elk, one dead fork horn buck (missing an antler for some reason) and several vaporized gophers. Stock splintered and had very poor service from Winchester so when the stock did finally come, I sold it.
I would like to get a 50-70 these guys keep mentioning, don't mind recoil quite so much when looking through irons. My nose does tire of meeting with my thumb in recoil though.
 
If your nose hits your thumb then the stock is wrong for you. Maybe too short. My Sako 375 was like that, but all my big guns are now a little longer or different stock shape to help out.

I don't own a big bore (yet)
I don't hunt anything that requires one and I don't have any extra room in my gun cabinet at the moment.
Maybe one day I will get one just to say I have one?
