If you do and would like to upgrade the stock and make the rifle lighter. McMillan has a hunters Edge on there specials page for 275.00. Huge savings but Iam not a lefty so someone can save 250.00 over ordering new and avoid the wait. Just thought I would pass on what I saw.

Must be for a WSM action. The 'standard' LH SAs are rarer than hens teeth- Winchester Custom Shop only AFAIK.

Good deal for some one though...

Likely why its so cheap, not many out there. Its been on the specials page since last march.

It was more a few weeks back I think they are clearing out anything thats been hanging on for too long. They sold 7 A-3's for savages that had been on there forever too dropped them too $225 but they went quick :)

I seen a LH m70 Fwt in 270wsm a few weeks back, owner probably wouldn't even know/care what a McMillan Edge is

wonder if a Montana M1999 would fit without to much work? HHhhhhmmm....:)

5 minutes with a dremel and the receiver would drop in. Its mostly just the 1/8" front ring ahead of the recoil lug and the bolt stop.

a bit more to make the Montana one-piece boat anchor bottom metal to fit

the barrel channel would of course depend on what you have.

Can you use M70 bottom metal with the montana action?

one piece (late model) M70 bottom metal yes

the two piece stuff, yes, but you may have to do some fitting to properly capture the magazine box.

Now that PT&G makes alloy one-piece M70 bottom metal, its a fast and cheap way to drop almost 5 ounces off a M1999

As a Leftie I appreciate the heads-up on the clear-out price of the Macmillian stock for a M-70 short action. I have a M-70 in long action, and on a general note, I always prefer a heavier rifle. But somewhere out there, somebody will eventually notice it and ueit to their delight...
