So I cancelled all my plans and stayed home today because I got an e-mail from CPC that my T81 was out for delivery. Nothing all day. Lights on, car in driveway. I go out to scrape some flurries off the driveway and the delivery notice is stuck to my garage door.

The lazy f@cker wrote up a card in his warm truck and tiptoed up and stuck it on the f#$king garage door instead of ringing the doorbell and having to carry the parcel up the walk.

So I drove like mad to the pickup location and nope... he didn't show up before they closed. I have to leave town on business tomorrow, so won't have it for another couple days.

I was so angry, I stayed on hold at CPC for an HOUR to lodge my complaint. I literally cancelled plans for this. I hate lazy unionized letter carries. May they all get bag rot.

^^^^^ oh man what a joke......canceled all your plans for this and then seen the card stuck to your garage door? Not even the door to your house! Wtf is wrong with these guys at CP.....I know you are wanting this bad and I'm really looking forward to your expert review and opinion when yours does finally arrive

Yep. Classic Canada Post maneuver. If they're falling behind on their mail run, they always do that regardless if the person is home. Also, if you get the notice on the door, that means you won't be able to pick it up until tomorrow because it won't make it until the next day to the pick up location.

My rifle was left on the doorstep, no knock and in a busy neighborhood.

I lucked out and my daughter just happened to have stopped at home for something right as the mailman was arriving and signed for it. When I came home at lunch expecting a notice the rifle was there.

Yup! Got it out of simple curiosity only.

You should've bought an SKS for $200 from Cabelas instead of the mall ninja cheese grater and attached the barrelled action + trigger group of the SKS under your T81 as a "secondary 7.62x39 launcher", lol!

Much more practical, kind of like:

Ah, that really sucks man... i got a notice too, but wasn't home. Tracking showed that the package would only be delivered MONDAY. So, we both got screwed... kind of funny that our trackings were identical too since they shipped.

I guess it was meant to be, bud! Don't lose sleep over it... not worth it.

(So, I take it there won't be a "thank you" card with $20 for your mail delivery guy this Xmas?) ;)

I take solace in the formal complaint I filed with cpc. Hopefully the @sshat's supervisor has a difficult conversation about the performance expected when he's earning overtime on a Sunday.

Maybe I'll pull a SKS out of the crate and give it a go LOL.

That means your gun was shipped without signature. When ever I sell a gun on CGN I always ship it with signature so that doesn't happen.

It doesn't mean a damn thing... I've had this happen more than once when the delivery person is not the regular one. Signature or no signature, they'll dump that sh*t right on your doorstep if it's faster than filling out a card, sticking it on whatever it will stick to that's closest on your property and peeling off before you open the f***ing door. Either or.

I once ordered a long antique rifle and the seller didn't package it properly, so about 6" of the barrel and the front sight were sticking out from the box. The delivery guy just left it at the doorstep without ever ringing the door bell. Rifle sat outside, in a busy neighborhood, for a few hours. Signature was required, lol... but never taken!

So yeah, there you have it. Canada Post sure as hell does have quite a few bad apples. Luckily, they don't seem to last long, at least around here.

They can't be fired. You can call and complain but they merely just change the persons mail route or suspend them with pay for a few weeks. Union workers.

Got the fixed stock out to the range on Sunday (still waiting on my folder that was suppose to ship with the folder); really like this rifle.

Observations on this in hand unit after 300 rounds of Barnaul FMJ non-corrosive (very windy and cold, my mood and comfort level was miserable):

Shooting
-sights dead on out of box
-10" gong at 50m & 100m not trouble.
-Groupings at 50m 2-4", 100m 5-7"
-Rear sight grenade bar thingy, is terrible. I hate bubbas, but I can see removing this; distracting to the shooter, affects target acquisition, IMO.
-Mags are cleanly pinned, perfect feeding and bolt hold open.
-Mags are obtrusive in length given capacity restrictions (thanks RCMP). I suspect 5/20 and or 5/10 Mags would sell like hot cakes.
-Buttery recoil inline with shoulder, low muzzle climb, very comfortable 7.62 to shoot.
-Slim light profile, very comfortable in the hands.

Fit & Function
-Functions amazing; action smooth right out of the box.
-Looks good, satiates the desired AK fix. I would say slightly above average Norinco fit and finish.
-$6 free shipping eBay surplus Type 56 AK sling is nice.

Worth it?
-Worth a G-note? Yes, in Kanada. If AKs were not prohib, I can't see this having enough interest to sell for $1k, let alone being worth importing.
-It is a reliable, NR, AK substitute; perfect truck, bush, range toy.
