Do you hunt with a .250 Savage?

I have 2 rifles chambered in 250 Savage the first is one like Boo's a SS International that Prophit River managed to import. I have tried Boo's load in my rifle with the 110 accubond and the results were very good., the second piece is a lovely savage american model 14 that I had P&D order for me last year. I haven't killed anything but paper with them so far. I have shot in the american some 75gr,87gr,100gr bullets with lots of nice groups not quite as nice as Harolds Rem.

FS, I bought the stainless/synthetic version of your rifle. It shoots quite well with Reloder 15 and the Speer 100, Hornady 100 or Rem Core-Lokt 100.

Four out of four.........found another hole just above the hock ........zero meat loss. Not too bad for shooting in waste deep snow.Other 3 in the kill zone/ribcage.These larger bodied bucks have a hump on their shoulders like a Brahma bull.Anybody else notice this with their deer?

I just registered in this forum today, looking for help replacing or repairing the shoulder stock of my 250-3000 Savage Model 99-F. Did a search and found this thread which I've sure enjoyed reading. I'm on Vancouver Island and have hunted our island blacktail deer with my 250 for over 40 years. I've taken several black bear with it too, and mule deer on the mainland. Now in my 60's, I appreciate the lighter weight of this gun, over my 338 Win Mag.

I used to reload but now use 'off the shelf' 100 gn Winchester silvertips, which shoot extremely hot. In the spent brass, the primers are flattened like they were seated with a putty knife. It had iron sites when I bought it used in the mid-70s, so had scope mounts installed by a island gunsmith. It has been a consistent tack driver.

Enjoyed your stories and observations about this round.

Welcome to the forum Steve, great place to be on a chilly day !
I'm sure you will find some suggestions concerning the stock for your Savage as there are lots of '99 lovers on board...

I have a 250 Sav in a stainless RSI as well and it's being most unco-operative with any powder or bullet I have tried so far. Anybody know the twist in these rifles? I assume they are 1-10 but don't know for sure. More work to be done later and possibly a full length bedding job required.
My Bob loves 110 ABs and RL 22...............tried IMR 4350, H 4831 and RL 19 but the RL 22 load is the one.........
I may try CCI 250s or Fed 215s to try and tighten up the ES a bit..........maybe some BR2s I have.

And look the primers still have rounded edges..............no where near max !!! LOL
