Got this pic in from a customer. A great looking build with the Sabertooth MK-I in Woodland Digital Camo. Do you hunt with your SKS?

I hunt deer with my unmodified sks, I sneak up to the deer and poke at it with the bayonet to make sure it is dead before grabbing it to gut it.

I have thought about it, but frankly it's too damn heavy. I'm sure I'll use it one of these days(just to say I did), but my 270 is lighter and more capable (not to mention scoped) so it gets the nod usually... And my 243 is even lighter...

So many options!

I actually thought about using it as a back up for moose hunting. Keep shots close, should be ok. Same power as 30/30.

30-30 has quite a bit more muzzle energy.
At 100 yards and beyond the X39 starts to catch up, but is still using a 125g bullet.
My question for those using the SKS is , are you just pulling the ball and replacing with softpoint or handloading?

I shoot hornady sst's but haven't used them on game yet.
