I like expensive gear. When I go out on a back pack hunting trip, I am wearing or carrying about $15K worth of guns, optics, clothes, pack, etc, just on my back.
I like nice guns and I don't mind paying for them, and at the same time I look down at some guns -especially if they are cheap pretenders.
To be clear-I am not above gun snobbery
However, I see no need to take the piss out of these outlaw shotguns. They are not pretenders in any way- They are inexpensive and fun. Who didn't watch western movies and want a sawed off shotgun? Who doesn't think that a $300 shotgun would be fun to blast stuff with? Or even leave in the truck during hunting season for an opportunistic shot at a grouse?
I've had a few Chinese firearms now, and I've never had any of them blow up. The Proof testing/safety issue isn't a real issue unless someone has some hard evidence that people are being put at risk by these firearms.
Unless they start blowing up (and I doubt they will except for the same reasons other shotguns blow up, like obstructed bores) why are we even discussing proof testing? There are millions of Chinese firearms in Canada, how many have blown up? I *do* vividly recall Sako barrels splitting like banana peels, though!
"Expensive" guns are not without failure.
I don't own a Outlaw shotgun, but it sure is tempting. Looks like lots of fun. It's a perfect candidate for a "change jar" gun- Count up your change and buy a gun. I've done it a few times before....
At the very least, owning a Outlaw shotgun will cause some nervous Nellies to cry "That is a prohibited weapon" and even better, it probably annoys some ant gun people.
Isn't that + fun enough to justify its' existence?
