Do You Love Glocks Or Hate Glocks, And Why?

Great gun for cops or for people fortunate enough to be able to have CCW. It's light, safe, simple, reliable, dependable, and with a little effort and practise, most can shoot it well at defensive distances. And it used to be inexpensive.

I love the mechanical design of Glock. I learned to shoot handguns with a Glock 22 many moons ago, and any handguns after that is easy in comparison. Gaston Glock did a very good job in making a very reliable yet extreme low cost handgun. He will forever be remembered as the John Browning of the modern hand gun.

Saying that, like the HK USP, it really only fits people with bigger hands or long fingers. It all starts with the blocky plastic magazines using late 70's and early 80's plastic technology to cut cost. If they have used a metal magazine ( like what manufacturers learned from Glock's mistake), they could have a more forgiving lower contour and most positive drop freeness. HK, S&W...and many others all took that lesson.

God bless Gaston Glock and his stupid simple POS** pistol that 35 years after its introduction still causes people to lose their minds.

(**according to countless hours of internet conjecture)

34 parts I believe including the mag. What more could I desire. Simple, fair amount of surface area on the slide to handle. Lack of external safeties. Magazines are plentiful. I run them stock.

My handgun of choice!

I hauled my Glock 17 gen 4 out today to shoot with my father. Haven't used it in over a year. No favourite of mine by any means but I wanted him to try it and compare it to his brand new S&W M&P9. I found it easier to shoot well than Dad's M&P. So did Dad. Not what I had expected. The M&P will get broken in and a FO front sight and all will be well. We both would have shot better with a 1911 or a CZ, nonetheless I realised that I have been underselling the Glock.

Just done the deal to replace my g22 (thanks Stephen)...took me a long time to buy one in the first place..taken a while to replace it this time...It may not move me emotionally...but It's is a great shooter...

I don't love Glocks but they will always be my go-to handgun. I may be the only person in the world to favourably compare Glocks to double barreled shotguns, but that's the fact. Both are quick and nimble and perfectly suited to what they do.

Glocks are AMAZING pistols. Period.

One HUGE reason why, they come in every single pistol caliber and you can choose from Full-size / Compact / Sub-Compact and competition/target L models ie, G34/G35

Glock 26/27 sub-compact LE backup pistol in an ankle holster or general concealed carry, perfect for your wife's purse lol ;) that potent little light weight G27 sporting factory night sights and 10 rounds of 180 grain Speer Gold Dots.

Glock 17/19 are Amazing 9X19 pistols. My 3rd Gen Glock 17 was the most accurate 9mm I've ever owned & fired. Glock 19 is a perfect concealed carry pistol 15+1 of Federal 147 gr HST sporting factory night sights in an IWB concealed holster

Glock 21 is my all time favorite (probably would've been a Glock 30/30SF/30S if I could've owned in standard configuration). Where else can you have a light weight, accurate big-bore all American .45 ACP with a 13+1 capacity with a double mag pouch & 230 grain +P HST heavy hitters. I've owned 3 Glock 21's.....two standard 3rd Gen G21 with night sights and a 3rd Gen 21SF with standard sights. Simply Amazing .45 Auto pistol. Damn I love Glocks.

Those sub-compact G26/G27 are soooo freaking amazing for such a little pistol. I've owned the G27 with Storm Lake stainless barrel, night sights and Pierce grip extensions, makes it much more comfy forbid hands and your pinky finger has its own little rest on the Pierce grip. Very accurate & controllable little powerhouse .40 cal Glock. The Glock 26 is also my Fav, so beautiful...would be a great pistol for someones 10 year old daughter / son getting into shooting, perfect little 9mm pistol with a 10+1.

I'm a sucker for the Glock 30 / 30SF. Such a compact beefy little thing, oozing muscle & power in such a compact package. For an all day carry pistol the Glock 30S would probably win out, with it's 10+1 and super slim profile, basically a G36 upper on a G30 frame.

Just discusted at these 4th Gen USA Glocks now being produced. Simply pathetic & disgraceful. Just like Beretta producing the 90-Two ha ha ha, are you SH!tting me??? . A TRUE GLOCK is a 3rd Gen AUSTRIA rollmarked pistol. All others are just 90-Two's

Cheers :)

I'm indifferent to Glocks, don't love them or hate them. I know I will eventually get one, and my opinion of them will change when that day comes.

For now, I'm happily plinking away with my 1911s, 226 and PPQ.

Would never own one .
Years ago was going to buy one locally until he let me try it at the range , plastic reminded me of holding onto a cordless drill .
Reneged post haste! Just too biased I guess, John M. Browning got it right over a hundred years ago with the 1911 !

My buddy let's me shoot his all the time and only one complaint...feels cheap and I can't stand holding it in my hand lol. Shoots good though.

I used to hate them, but it was an opportunity to rise above my 1911/ BHP comfort level and then once I got back to fundamentals (again and again), I discovered a love and fondness for them. Now I can shoot any pistol well. As long as it's safe for me, life is good.

I have Glocks, SIGS, and 1911's... all one happy family!

Adversity into Advantage!

It's all good!

Cheers,
Barney

Gen3 17 Hate to admit my fanboy love but man it will fire anything, every time! SHTF its the one i'd grab. I'd bet 90% of the time so would anyone who has one. to me anything plastic feels cheap same if its a M&P or Glock.. i love my 1911 but I'll never sell my Glock

I respect them, and don't find them any more boring than just about any other polymer pistol design.

However I don't find them particularly appealing and believe that they aren't anything special anymore aside from their market position.
