Do you need a tool to install rear handgaurd clip on a m1 garand

i purchased a rear handguard clip from marstar and cant seem to get it on! do i need a tool?

It's a real bear to do w/o the tool and you have a high risk of cracking the guard. I've always used the tool, but once had to improvise when re-working a friend's Garand down in Arizona. I wound up using a wire in the holes on both sides of the clip. I secured the wire on one end in a vise and used a piece of wood as a handle on the other wire so that I could stretch the clip enough to roll the guard into it.

You should also fit the handgd to your rifle before installing the clip so that you are sure that it will fit. Make sure that there is a bit of space between the rear of the guard and the front of the receiver, so that the guard doesn't crack when the barrel heats up from firing. You also need to make sure that there is clearance between the left bottom side of the guard and the top of the stock. Remove wood from the guard, not the stock, if this is the case. Lastly, you need to make sure that there is no interference between the op rod handle and the guard.

I see that you live in BC. I'm in the Okanagan and would be happy to install the clip for you. All it costs you is the 2 way postage or the gas.
