Do you regret buying a Savage B mag?

Hey Nutters

I've heard/read all kinds of experiences with this gun and the ammo. Mostly complaints of bad accuracy.

Im a big HMR fan, and love my savage rifles. Naturally I'm inclined to buy the bigger, more powerful version, recently the local gun shop put a sale on them for $280 which has stirred my interest, he has plenty of ammo in stock as well.

So my questions are

Is your rifle/ammo not accurate? Under 1.5 MOA for 5 shots should be easily and consistently attainable.

Is the B mag decent quality? Good feeding? Plastic magazines? Like the #### on close bolt? I know the stock is cheap, and I like the accu trigger.

If you had an HMR would you buy the WSM? I shoot my rimfires the most because of noise and price. The extended range, ballistics and power of the WSM appeals to me but when it comes to plinking and small game is it much more effective?

Thanks

Josh

I like mine, the only regret is not getting the heavy barrel, the small barrel on mine heats up a bit quick, but it's accuracy is fine, trigger is superb and it moves the 20 grainers at 3150, a fair bit faster then the HMR...

When the target barrel models show up on the racks here I may put it up to sell to fund the heavy barrel version. The stock is flimsy as said, but there is options for improving that, the bolt is a bit annoying, requires more force to close then you'd expect, but also there is aftermarket options for that too.

A buddy of mine has one. The stock is complete crap on them, but Boyd's sells a nice one which he upgraded too. Unfortunately his doesn't shoot worth the ####. 5-6" groups at 100yards. Mind you this is the first batch of them brought into canada. The newer ones with the heavier barrel are better I hear.

If/when the kinks get worked-out, I may look at one. Until then, hard to beat the .223~especially if you reload. Where I shoot/hunt, if it's a place I can make 17HMR-level noise, .223 (and bigger) is fine too. I had 3 HMRs before getting my first .223. I have no HMRs now, and the .223 remains.
