Do you respect your firearms gentlemen ?

Just think of it like... what if you went into a car dealership to buy a used car and there was still McDonald's cups and cigarette butts in there because the dealer didn't clean it? Maybe you don't care and I actually envy you but it certainly would bother me.

I like this analogy. When I sell something I make sure it's cleaned thoroughly and when I receive an item I like it to be cleaned as well. That's a respect issue, IMO. One rifle I bought on CGN had leaves/twigs in the action and another had gunk, oil and lots of gun powder in the action. I think that's a lack of respect for the firearm and the buyer.

I clean after every use it became a habbit... A clean gun is a happy gun :)

I just realized: I am 39 years old - I have been carrying a firearm as a personal defensive / offensive tool since I was 17, when I joined the Militia.

When you have to trust your life to the firearm, you bet your ass that it gets cleaned EVERY TIME it gets dirty - Even with my recreational firearms, I can't stand to have them dirty. I love that faint whiff of solvent when I open the safe!

To each their own, I guess, but to me, leaving a firearm dirty is like letting the back seat of your car fill up with McD's garbage - You never get rid of that stink!

(Edit: I see someone else already came up with the McD's analogy! Let's just say that when my wife and I bought our home, we had to replace all of the carpet and underlay, as the previous owners had NEVER cleaned up the dog fur. If they had vaccumed regularly, the place wouldn't have smelled bad!)

Sometimes I go to the range and fire 50-100 rounds. Is that really worth cleaning? That's like having a full tank of gas, driving up the block to the grocery store and then filling it back up again.

A lot of people do more damage over cleaning.

I can't remember the last time I went to the range to shoot 50 rounds - if I'm pressed for time I may not clean them immediately, but they are always cleaned prior to going out again. If I'm selling something I tear it down and clean everything (every pin, spring, bushing and part). Leaving grit (powder residue) inside a firearm does NOT make it work better, it DOES make it wear faster. Dirty lube acts like polishing paste (ie removes finish and or metal), clean lube does not.

this is a intersting question...

the firearms i use yearly i clean (the m77, or other hunting rifles)
the ones i use for target i just make sure they dont rust or care, but i dont plan on selling those....

I clean every 2 trip to the range on average...soooo, about every 300-500 rounds. Never any issues yet. I agree that a clean gun is a happy gun.

I probably would clean every trip if I was using lead in a semi-auto, but in my revolver I will still stick to the 300-500 round mark. :D

Do you respect your firearms gentlemen ? Or your self ? Or another s ?
Almost , think of that - ALMOST every used handguns I'm buying is DIRTY and needs good care .( I'm not talking about CGN only of course ).Maybe my request is too high , but it is hand guns not a used condo..s .
I would feel a shame if somebody can say - this guy send me a 'dirty ' handgun.
Am I wrong ?

You sound like my wife... :p

My level of clean will never remotely come close too her level of clean example I'll clean the kitchen and she'll come along afterwards and clean it again because it wasn't clean enough...

So I suggest you get over it and if the gun you buy isn't as clean as you would like clean the d*mn thing and quit your b*tching...

:nest:
